Mortal Kombat is infamous for its brutal finishing moves called fatalities, but Mortal Kombat X has a lot of work to do to top these awesome, gory executions.

Ermac's in MKX. spill your guts.
Noob Saibot and Kung Lao in MK9 take the cake. Goro had a pretty mean one too.
Noob Saibots from MK 9 is one of my favorites
haha memories
I'm surprised Noob Saibot's fatality didn't make the list. You know.... THAT one.
The best one Barakas babality glitch where you could then cut the baby up in MK II arcade while it made baby sounds!
Goriest, bloodiest, most gruesome... every article. Is this a fighting game anymore? Of you want to see blood go work at a butcher. I mean Cmon! Zzz zzz zzz
Meh I love the improvements on graphics but feel the fatalities are not as good as the older MKs! They seem pretty similar, gruesome but I don't think alot of thought went into them
@letsgame82 how many ways can you kill a person?
If you're creative, lot's of ways
Love that new intro music. Cool stuff.
They're not THAT big sweety. lol
@shreddyz I feel like they're padding out these episodes a little.
Was Sub-Zero really a big factor in pushing the creation of ESRB? I don't feel like doing the research right now :).
I'm not a Mortal Kombat fan but I remember being when the first came out, as a kid it was cooool :).
Off topic but popped into my head:
"Sub Zero, now plain zero!"
@hystavito Mortal Kombat was the game that caused the creation of the ESRB. I remember the massive kick up when the game came out, with parents going crazy about the depiction of graphic violence in games. Don't know whether the kick up had anything to do with it but the SNES version didn't have blood where as the Mega Drive version did.
Boy was I disappointed when my parents bought my brother the SNES version for his birthday.
@hystavito Sweet Running Man reference.
Haaa you gotta love sub-zero
What about Kung Lao's one, where he puts his hat spinning in the ground and slices you in half then he picks the remains and holds them up as trophies
@Chronologo My personal favorite. I especially like how his opponent yells and tries to fight back, all for nothing. Very, very brutal stuff. I can almost feel their pain. Still, Sub Zero's head and backbone is such a classic.
@ahpuck Well you can still go with the MK2 version where Kung slices the oponent while standing for a classic touch hahaha. But yeah the Sub Zero one is one that spawned controversy with the censorship and stuff
@ahpuck I forgot to put the word classic somewhere there
you sadistic brutal son of a bitch
wow that was strong ...
Yeah, Jess lets loose her potty mouth in this segment.
I'd say MK X has already surpassed every other MK game in the gore department many times over. Ermac's fatality is particularly gruesome, and so is Takeda's. His may not be as gorey as Ermac's but how he just leaves this gurgling, bubbling hole where your mouth used to be really grossed me out, in an awesome way of course. Gore-wise my top 3 fatalities that I've seen so far are #1 Ermac #2 Scorpion and #3 Mileena.
Not sure I'd say Sub-zeros head-removal was the goriest. There's far more that show much greater blood and mutilation. Personally for me the ones where people get torn apart are the goriest, Goro, Kentaro, Sheeva... any powerful creature with multiple arms you just KNOW is going to pull your limbs off :)
My favouite fatality in the series was Kabal's when he took his mask off and scared you to death and your spirit ran away. Made me lol and he looked like something out of the Evil Dead. I've always liked my horror/gore to be a bit tongue-in-cheek ;)
Holy crap, she straight up said f@@k on the air. Wow!
@madgame23 It's a video on Mortal Kombat. I'm no video game expert but I'd say the franchise isn't exactly known for being family friendly. I doubt a cuss word here and there would be a problem.
There's a lot of good fatalities in the MK series.....
can't disagree with Sub Zero's spine rip as number 1......it's still kinda the one we compare all others to even today....
well this oine may not be gory but one of the ones I laughed my ass off on was MK9's Shang Stung's Joker style fatality, Jack In The Box.....it was so out of left field, love it.....
@MJ12-Conspiracy I dunno about the spine rip. Always seemed a bit placid to me. Almost like Subby phoned it in. "What? you want a fatality? meh, I guess i'll just rip the guys head off". Where's the creativity!
Kung Lao from MK2 where he cuts you in half & your ribs are sticking out after. Yea good times.
Liu Kangs dragon and the Arcade Slot machine are memorable for me from MK2, if not the most gruesome.
Kano's heart rip out from MK1 probably was the most gruesome for me at the time. Brutal!
Yay for Mileena being in there. One of my personal favorites. :) Though Reptile will always have a soft spot in my lizard loving heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4owTiVGwEE
Does anyone know whether the new MK has appearance from Smash Brothers characters?
@theteaface oh yes defiantly Mario turns you into a goomba and stomps you and a coin pops out :P
@suppaphly42 @theteaface Makes me wonder how fatalities in Smash Bros. would be received :).
SUB ZERO WINS FLAWLESS VICTORY
Hard to believe Baraka's Go For A Spin and Kabal's It Takes Guts didn't make the top five. Sektor's Scarecrow is also especially heinous.
I love the gore, but by far I'm more pleased that the last game was a quality fighter for the first time in franchise history. I wouldn't keep buying subpar fighters just for the fatalities.
@youre_a_sheep There are just SO MANY! Hard to pick! Thanks for the suggestions though!
Aside from the classic sub-zero one. Noob Saibot's in MK IX takes the cake for me.
@Warlord_Irochi when they each grab a leg and rip the body in half? Yeah, that's a personal favorite.
I am not really into all the gore but a lot of MKs fatalities are so over the top that they are entertaining for their comedic value. Still, I miss friendships.
@mo123567 Johnny Cage giving his autograph and Liu Kang disco dancing were my favorites.
@mo123567 Kung Lao's dog fetching his hat was good. Also Stryker's crossing guard :)
MK brings out the teenager in me. Over the top gore is just so entertaining for some reason!
Watching surgery or real life injuries grosses me out but I gotta love anyone who rips somebody's heart out & shows it to them before they die.
Because it isn't real, which makes it fun.
All five of these will be replaced once MKX comes out. Game is off the charts gruesome.
