The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History has created a large-scale traveling exhibit devoted to the Freedom Rides of 1961. It will visit 20 cities in 2011.

Facing History and Ourselves

Facing History and Ourselves will provide comprehensive educational materials to help teachers bring Freedom Riders into their classrooms.

Smithsonian National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Endowment for the Humanities

Jointly, the Smithsonian National Museums of American History and of African American History and Culture, and the National Endowment for the Humanities will create programming in Washington, DC and at multiple affiliate museums across the country to create dialog around Freedom Riders and the role of civic engagement today.

Illinois Humanities Council

The Illinois Humanities Council is creating statewide programming around Freedom Riders, including screenings for students and the public, and a festival featuring original performances honoring the Freedom Rides.

Georgia Humanities Council

The Georgia Humanities Council is planning a series of events in late 2010 and early 2011 to commemorate the 1961 Freedom Rides.

Museum of Tolerance

The Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles will host a screening of Freedom Riders and a forum to discuss civic engagement.

The Newseum

AMERICAN EXPERIENCE will partner with the Newseum on a series of events in Washington, DC to launch the Student Freedom Ride in May 2011.

Kauffman Scholars

This Kansas City-based college access and preparation program will create educational opportunities and events for students and will partner with KCTS, the local public broadcasting station, to create a community-wide event in celebration of Freedom Riders.

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center's purpose is to tell the story of the struggle for freedom in the United States through exhibits and programs that focus on America's battle to rid itself of the ugly scourge of slavery and treat all its citizens with respect and dignity. The Freedom Center will host a public screening of Freedom Riders in Spring 2011.

Sojourn to the Past

Sojourn to the Past, recognized by the US Congress as the longest running civil rights/social justice educational outreach program for youth in the country and endorsed by a distinguished national roster of scholars, historians, social justice leaders and organizations, is available to provide consulting in the areas of comprehensive logistics planning and curriculum.
