Taraji P. Henson is so awesome in this show, her character has the best comebacks. I sometimes don't watch this on the weekly just so I can binge watch it all at once. It's such a deep interesting story line.
The story starts with Cookie getting out of jail after 17 years. Her relationships with her sons are strained at best and it's apparent they didn't really visit her while she was in there.
It's alluded to that there's more to her incarceration story than we know and that she took the blame so that this empire could be created. It's really insightful look at how to catch up.
I think it's also really interesting to see how incredible the music is in this show, obviously with Timbaland's producing you wouldn't expect any less. I almost wish they would actually go on tour. It's so rare these days to see people who can duet together so well. There are not a lot of popular r&b/hip-hop duos that are actually good.
The music portion of this show is incredibly classy, it's incorporated perfectly to the story line, not like a musical or Broadway like in any way.
The show is going in a great direction and I can't wait to keep watching to watch how everything turns out. I foresee this show lasting for several more seasons.
