AMC Executive Believes The Walking Dead Could Outlive Us All

4 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Since its inception in 2003, The Walking Dead comic book series has enthralled fans with its rich storytelling and knack for creating characters that are immediatley compelling, whichever side of the moral spectrum they hail from. At 158 issues strong, the franchise shows no sign of slowing down either, and according to AMC network president Josh Sapan, the same can also be said for the live-action TV series.

Fast approaching its seventh season on the airwaves, Sapan spoke recently at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference – as relayed by The Wrap – confirming that the network has no plans to call time on The Walking Dead nor its spinoff Fear The Walking Dead anytime soon.

Emmys 2016: The Best and Worst Moments, from Great Speeches to ‘Stranger Things’

19 September 2016 2:36 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards didn’t lure in a larger audience than last year’s record-low viewership number. In fact, the ABC telecast dipped even further. Despite peak TV producing more great television than ever before, viewers haven’t been warming to the Emmys. Blame “too much TV” or a confusing September air date, but even though TV’s biggest night hasn’t been pulling in the same stats as yesteryear, the actual production has been, well, peaking.

Last Week’S Episode: ‘Star Trek’: Will There Ever Be Another TV Show Like It?

Jimmy Kimmel did a fine job with his monologue. The speeches were on point, and there were plenty of surprise winners to keep everyone in the Microsoft Theater and watching at home on the edge of their seats. These key elements make up the foundation of any great awards show, making the 2016 Emmys a ceremony to remember. »

Star Trek Continues: Continuing To Be Excellent

16 September 2016 7:38 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

“Embracing the Winds”, the seventh episode of the excellent fan-made webseries Star Trek Continues debuted recently and it continues the outstanding quality of the previous six episodes. With equal parts fan service, entertaining writing, good performances and nostalgia, "Embracing the Winds" delivers what fans of classic Star Trek want from their Trek.

Note to Jj Abrams…Watch this show! These guys get it. You don’t. This is what fans of Star Trek: The Original Series (1966-1969) expect when they see the name Star Trek. The fan-made, crowd funded Star Trek Continues is such a superb extension of the old show, it makes you wonder why Paramount doesn’t hire these folks to write the new films. They’re much better at it than whoever is writing those movies now.

Before we go further into “Embracing the Winds”, it should be pointed out that this episode was filmed before the »

Star Trek Memories: A Look Back by a 45 Year Trek Fan

8 September 2016 8:58 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

I was so young the first time I saw classic Star Trek, that I can’t remember a time I didn’t know about Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and the rest of the crew of the Starship Enterprise. The show and I are about the same age and I enjoy it now as much as I did when I discovered it back in the early 1970s. Since this week is the 50th Anniversary of the greatest and most influential American science fiction TV show ever made, here is a look back through the eyes of someone who grew up and grew old with Star Trek.

I was too young to watch the original run of Star Trek in the 1960s (no TV in the cradle) but when I was in elementary school in the early 70s, the show went into syndication. In New York it was running week nights at »

‘Star Trek’: 50 Years of Films and TV, Ranked From Worst to Best

8 September 2016 8:48 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Beyond the 19 films and TV shows that make up official on-screen “Star Trek” canon, there are quite a few more efforts that could, philosophically, be a part of this list.

There’s the rich legacy of officially licensed novels and comic books that brought the characters to life in print form. There’s the technology invented by production designers that eventually became real-life wizardry. There’s the 1999 film “Galaxy Quest” — technically a parody, but spiritually one of the best “Star Trek” movies ever made.

There are the vibrant fan communities that, even during the franchise’s many dormant periods, ensured that “Star Trek” would never actually die. And there are the many real-life scientists and astronauts whose passion for boldly going into the real depths of the unknown were inspired by a show »
