Adam Devine To Join Zac Efron In Fox Comedy Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates

Pitch Perfect star Adam Devine has entered talks to star alongside NeighborsZac Efron in Fox’s comedy, Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates. Thankfully, the descriptive nature of its title means that the movie won’t be throwing any curveballs with a misleading, enigmatic name. Currently in development, the movie is based on the true story of two brothers from Albany, New York, who tried to find dates for their cousin’s wedding by putting an ad on Craigslist which then went viral.

The big screen adaptation, which Chernin Entertainment will be producing for Fox, is expected to insert a few story twists. In addition to the real life incident, the movie will find the two party-mad siblings meet their match when two equally crazy girls respond to their ad. Sounds like we could be in for more fratty frolics and boozing!

Variety goes on to report that the »

Vikings Star Clive Standen Joins Natalie Dormer For Patient Zero

Screen Gems’ upcoming pandemic panic, Patient Zero, has now added Vikings star Clive Standen to its line-up. Directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky from a script by Mike Le, the action thriller will take place in a time when a potent strain of rabies has evolved, turning those infected into gibbering, psychotic goons. Sounds a bit like most cinematic strains of rabies, but we’ll remain optimistic on account of the talent that’s attached.

Storywise, Patient Zero will follow the “unprecedented global pandemic of a super-strain of rabies that has resulted in the evolution of a new species driven by violence.” One immune human survivor (played by former Doctor Who, Matt Smith) is not only safe from the disease, but inexplicably possesses the ability to communicate with this new species! That’s the dream! Imagine if Will Smith had been able to exchange a civil word or two with the darkseekers in I Am Legend. »

New Trailer For The Riot Club Tackles The Elitist Fraternity Set

IFC Films has dropped a trailer for Lone Scherfig’s latest, The Riot Club. Based on Laura Wade’s West End play, Posh, it follows the story of a young man at Oxford University as he attempts to gain acceptance into an exclusive, elitist fraternity. Think Neighbors through a stereotypical English lens.

The movie stars Max Irons as Miles Richards, whose every desire hinges upon joining the privileged group. The main bulk of the trailer serves to build up the prestige of the club, so as to possibly provide reason for why anyone would wish to be a member. Around the midway point it seems to veer into spoiler territory but nevertheless that first minute ought to entice potential viewers. While it’s yet to open in the U.S., it did make its North American debut at last year’s Tiff where it landed a crop of encouraging reviews. »

Zak Olkewicz To Pen Adaptation Of James Wan’s Graphic Novel Malignant Man

In addition to screenwriter, producer and director, you can now add graphic novelist to the extensive list of James Wan’s talents. Three years back, the Insidious director jotted out his first full-length graphic novel entitled Malignant Man. Its very existence was seen as an intriguing prospect, being that the man behind it has spawned a successful career out of original cult horror properties. So, it came as no surprise when Fox began sniffing around last summer with the hopes of adapting it as a feature.

Originally, the studio had earmarked Wan himself to script and direct the movie, which revolves around Alan Gates, “a terminal cancer patient who realizes that his tumor is actually a parasite and after given otherworldly powers, he must battle an army of evil buried beneath society’s skin while learning things about his own past.” The latest news from Deadline reports that Wan is »

Sicario Set For September; Drug Runner Drama Stars Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro And Josh Brolin

With the one-two punch of Prisoners and Enemy, Denis Villeneuve (pictured above) delivered two of the most tense, visually engrossing thrillers in years, and there’s no reason to suspect that the director’s next project, drug runner drama Sicario, will break his winning streak. Lionsgate has set a September 18th limited release for the pic, with plans to expand into more theaters a week later.

Emily Blunt stars as an idealistic FBI agent who gets in over her head when she is introduced to the shadowy world of international drug trafficking by two members of a government task force (Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro). Enlisted in a daring plot to take down a Mexican cartel boss, the agent must rely on her wits and training to stay alive, even as the specifics of the mission lead her to question what ethical and moral lines she’s willing to »

Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters Reboot Will Take Inspiration From The Walking Dead

Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot is poised to completely redefine the spooky franchise. Drafting in an all-female cast and a new story, it will include several subtle nods to the original series, but for the most part it’s expected to emerge as a standalone movie. Now, in addition to those cheeky winks, it seems Feig’s enjoyment of a certain undead serial may also play an influential role.

During his appearance on the cleverly titled The Talking Dead (via Screen Crush) – a companion show to AMC’s popular zombie drama, The Walking Dead – Feig brought up the affect that the series has had on his creative process:

“I will say, I was very inspired by this show. What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about gauntlet run. And that’s something; an element »

Arnold Schwarznegger Will Be Back For Terminator: Genisys Sequel

With a little over four months to go until Terminator: Genisys resets the beloved sci-fi franchise, star of the series Arnold Schwarznegger has confirmed what we suspected all along. The actor-politician, who rose to prominence playing the badass cyborg in James Cameron’s original Terminator, spoke out after a recent lecture in Europe to verify his appearance in the movie’s sequel.

“Yes, of course, next year,” he said, when asked by a reporter from fan site The Arnold Fans (via Coming Soon) if he would be a part of production on the sixth instalment. After the forthcoming fifth entry was confirmed for a summer 2015 opening, Paramount verified that two additional sequels had been pegged for release. The sixth – which we now know will commence production next year – is slated for a May 19th, 2017 release. The third film in the reboot trilogy is expected to arrive on June 29th, »

Nervo Feels Good With Their New Track

Nervo are currently hard at work on their debut album (which will be dropping this Spring), and as fans eagerly wait for Mim and Liv to deliver what’s been a long time coming, the Aussie twins are continuing to whet our appetite with new singles.

A few months ago they dropped the excellent “Rise Early Morning,” and today they’ve given us “It Feels,” a decidedly more mellow and relaxing track than some of their other bangers, but one which still feels very “Nervo-ish.”

Emotional vocals from the sisters backed by a pop-y beat ease us into the progressive house song, which is uplifting and catchy yet marks a definite departure from their typical big room sound. With melodic chords and the girls doing excellent work on vocals, the song is another impressive effort from Mim and Liv and has us excited to see what else they’ve got cooked up for their album. »

Dwayne Johnson Says Shazam Could Arrive Earlier Than 2019

Those who are upset that we have to wait until 2019 to see Shazam take to the big screen are in luck, because according to Dwayne Johnson – who plays lead antagonist Black Adam – the movie could arrive sooner than expected.

MTV caught up with the wrestler-turned-movie star at the 87th Academy Awards this past weekend, and asked about the state of Shazam. When the interviewer lamented that the film was “a few years away,” Johnson cut him off and said:

“You know, it may happen a little earlier than what has been predicted. The script is coming in, it’s great, the support from the studio has been great.”

We have yet to hear much about what the adaptation itself will entail (and Johnson mentions that he still doesn’t know who will play Shazam), but we have been hearing quite a bit of talk about Black Adam being used as »

Valve Poised To Reveal New Virtual Reality Hardware At Gdc Next Week

Aside from releasing a SteamVR beta that supported Oculus Rift earlier this year, Valve has remained rather coy on its plans for the competitive virtual reality market. Granted, the company unveiled a working prototype late last year, but now it seems Valve is gearing up to announce the fully-fledged product at Gdc (Game Developers Conference) next week.

According to the press release, the company’s conference will encompass “Steam Machines with the final Steam Controller, new living room devices, and a previously-unannounced SteamVR hardware system.” Up until the point, Valve has thrown support behind the Oculus Rift hardware, backing the head mounted display as it was purchased by Facebook for $2 billion.

Now, Valve looks set to debut a Vr headset of its own. At the time of going to press, the company is encouraging industry developers to partake in a Gdc demo in order to create virtual reality content, directing budding devs to their website. »

Netflix To Release Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday

Netflix continues to make forays into the world of original feature films. With Adam Sandler securing a four-picture deal with the company, the next (and far more auspicious step) that the streaming and DVD service has taken is into the world of Pee-Wee Herman. It was announced earlier today that Paul Reubens’ new Pee-Wee film, Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday, will be released worldwide on Netflix.

The Judd Apatow-produced Pee-Wee film has been a long time coming: it was originally set up over at Universal, but has since migrated to Netflix, who already streams the original TV show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, as well as both feature films, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure and Big Top Pee-Wee. Adding another Pee-Wee film to its roster makes perfect sense, and probably will give the cult fanbase a much bigger chance at seeing it.

Paul Reubens himself sounds quite excited about the Netflix deal, saying »

Lionsgate Set To Invest In Telltale Games, First Project Will Be A TV Show And Game Hybrid

Ever since the humble release of its own rendition of The Walking Dead back in 2012, Telltale Games has become synonymous with powerful interactive storytelling, but it looks as though the studio’s next project will take that mantra one step further.

That’s because Lionsgate Entertainment, the studio behind such teen-oriented franchises as The Hunger Games and Divergent, has today announced plans to invest in Telltale ahead of a new partnership. Such an arrangement will see Lionsgate’s Jon Feltheimer join the studio’s board of directors.

In a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly, Telltale’s newly-appointed CEO Kevin Bruner touched upon the drive behind the new, genre-blending project, which bears some semblance to Microsoft’s Quantum Break in its amalgamation of choice-based gameplay and episodic TV content.

“Our goal is to create products that have a legitimate chance of winning both a Golden Globe and a Game of the Year, »

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Are Up Against It In Official Avengers: Age Of Ultron Poster

Marvel Studios has lifted the curtain on the official poster for Joss Whedon’s anticipated superhero sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, which sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes come up against an army of malicious androids.

Perhaps the most interesting tidbit to come out of the poster is confirmation that Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson (Falcon), though it remains to be seen just how much screen time will be afforded to Captain America’s number two.

Elsewhere on the poster, eagle-eyed fans will be able to spot newcomers in the form of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, not to mention Paul Bettany’s The Vision. Aside from that, it’s business as usual for the dysfunctional family, with Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury rounding out the cast.

Earlier this week, we learned that Avengers: Age of Ultron will boast »

Batman: Arkham Knight Lands A Surprising “M For Mature” Rating

It appears that the Dark Knight’s latest adventure is going to be his darkest yet, as the Esrb has given the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight an “M for Mature” rating, marking a first for Rocksteady’s popular franchise.

Despite the mature rating, don’t expect any “gratuitous blood or swearing” in Batman’s latest battle. In an interview with IGN, Rocksteady founder Sefton Hill clarified why Arkham Knight potentially earned its rating.

As the end of the trilogy, we have every villain in Gotham working together to destroy Batman. It’s unavoidable that some bad stuff is going to happen. But that doesn’t mean we changed our approach. We’re not including gratuitous blood or swearing. We want to deliver a true end with no compromises, and it takes us to some dark places.

Hill and the team at Rocksteady are aware that the M rating could potentially »

Stunning R-Rated Power Rangers Short Film Offers Up A Much Darker Take On Your Childhood Heroes

If you grew up in the 90s, there’s a fair chance that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers served as prominent figures in your childhood. Saban Entertainment’s superhero story soon spawned an entire entertainment franchise, and the IP still resonates with people today thanks to merchandise and the like.
