Effective Interventions

CDC’s Division of STD Prevention and partners are gathering evidence of the effectiveness of different interventions to support STD programs, community based organizations, and other groups who aim to reduce STDs. Researchers are reviewing the literature to summarize existing evidence in nine types of interventions. Findings from those papers will be shared on this site. Eventually, webinars, new evidence, and tools to facilitate replication of effective interventions will be posted. In the interim, key publications that have addressed intervention effectiveness are listed below

School based screening

Clinic based screening

Outreach screening/testing in non-clinical venues

Partner screening

Expedited partner therapy

Linkage to care

Social marketing

High-intensity behavioral counseling

Policy opportunities
