Vaginitis Ready-to-Use Module for Clinical Educators

The Self-Study STD Module Vaginitis is a web-based training course designed to guide clinicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of vaginitis. This module is based on the STD curriculum developed by the National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers.

Course Objectives

After completing this course you will be able to:

1.           Describe the epidemiology of the three major types of vaginitis in the U.S.

2.           Describe pathogenesis relating to the three major types of vaginitis.

3.           Discuss the clinical manifestations of the three major types of vaginitis.

4.           Identify common methods used in the diagnosis of the three major types of vaginitis.

5.           List the CDC-recommended treatment regimens for the three major types of vaginitis.

6.           Summarize prevention strategies for the three major types of vaginitis.

Target Audience

The Self-Study STD Module Vaginitis is intended for the following clinicians in primary care settings who desire a basic introduction to STD diagnosis and management:

         Nurses

         Nurse practitioners

         Nurse-midwives

         Physician assistants

         Physicians

Continuing Education

Students completing the Self-Study STD Module Vaginitis can earn continuing education in one of the following categories:

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited as a provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This activity provides 1.1 contact hours.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

The CDC has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. The CDC is authorized by IACET to offer 0.1 ANSI/IACET CEU's for this program.
