AWS Service Catalog is a service that allows administrators to create and manage approved catalogs of resources that end users can then access via a personalized portal. You can control which users have access to which applications or AWS resources to enable compliance with your business policies, while users can easily browse and launch products from the catalogs you create. AWS Service Catalog can enable your organization to benefit from increased agility and reduced costs as end users can find and launch only the products they need from a catalog that you control. AWS Service Catalog will be available in early 2015.

benefit_standardization

AWS Service Catalog enables IT departments to create customized catalogs containing products that incorporate standard architectures and configurations. This helps make sure that the products that are launched by your end users conform to your business policies.

benefit_servicecatalog_control

AWS Service Catalog allows IT administrators to centrally manage the portfolios of products that users can browse and launch, and control how those products are configured. Administrators can employ access control by individual, group, department, or cost center to provide fine-grained control. Administrators can also make updates to products so that users can only launch the most up-to-date versions.

benefit_self-service

AWS Service Catalog provides end users with a personalized portal they can use to find and launch products on a self-service basis. Users can customize products within constraints that you define. Once a product has been launched, users are notified when new product updates are available and can choose to update the products they launched, and to delete them when they are no longer required.

benefit_integration

AWS Service Catalog offers APIs that you can use to incorporate the service’s functionality into your existing systems. For example, you can deliver AWS Service Catalog functionality to end users via your existing systems (such as your organization’s existing self-service portal), making it easier for them to access the service.
