SEASON 2:
In my opinion/experience this build is currently the strongest possible monk setup for competitive greater rift laddering.
Mandatory gems:
Bane of the trappedTaeguk
Third gem:
Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard - Need to test (If you need healing)Esoteric Alteration - Need to test (If you need reduction)
Basic game-play strategy:
- Maintain Sweeping wind- Spread exploding palm
- Vulture Claw Kick to pop exploding palm
- Maintain your spirit with mystic ally on use and Epiphany
- Dash for mobility
Skill variations:
Dashing strike - Quicksilver (T6 Farming)Mantra of Conviction - Annihilation (T6 Farming ~ swap out EP)
Stat Priority:
Helm: Socket>CritShoulders: CDR
Torso: x3 Sockets>30% RCR>20% Fire Damage>11% Elite damage reduction (secondary: 7% Melee dmg reduction)
Legs: x2 Sockets
Gloves: ChC>CDR>ChD>IAS
Rings: Socket>ChD>ChC>IAS
Waist: ChD>IAS
Wrist: 20% Fire Damage>ChC (secondary: 7% Melee dmg reduction)
Amulet: Socket>ChD>ChC=20% Fire
Weapon: 10% Damage > 6 Spirit Regen > LPSS > LPH > Vit
you want dex/secondary resist on all your pieces(where possible) & health globe bonus ownz for Mantra of healing/transcendence.
People WITHOUT furnace:
Just use any weapon with the highest DPS/Healing or Run a torch build.FAQ:
Q: Why don't we use Gyana na Kashu?A: Cindercoat makes your LTK hit much harder and more efficiently than GNK.
Q: Does the LTK Dot portion stack?
A: Yes, it stacks perfectly fine ~ but does it not crit, it scales with AVG CRIT (CHD/CHC)
Q: Why am i getting instantly killed g33+?
A: You need Unity equipped, and Unity on your active follower(with a "follower cannot die" relic)
Also! 1000+ All resistance | 16,000+ Armour | 350,000+ Health - Is a good amount to be around.
Q: Does the sunwuko 2 set scale with elemental damage?
A: Yes, the 1000% weapon damage proc grabs your highest elemental damage % then modifies the proc accordingly (all item damage cannot proc area damage)
Q: What gem should i put in my helmet socket?
A: Diamond. CDR = Dmg + Survivability!
Q: What normal gems should i put in my chest/pants?
A: Diamonds until your all resistance is over 1200, Then the rest emeralds(dex gems).
Q: What follower should i use?
A: Templar. Why? Inspire (x1.1 ALL spirit generation)

Chaining explosions each dealing 6300% dmg + Sunwuko EP dmg bonus, which then chains more EP with gungdo gear. Wish I could find a gungdo gear...
Anyway i'm really excited to see this is in action. Why not.
And because the amount of spirit regen is the same for both builds, the total amount of spirit available to be spent is the same for both builds.
So even if you run out of spirit with ltk, u still deal more dmg with ltk than wol.
To Quin,
I play on PS4 and tested this today. My best grift completion is 50 so far (and people will say bullshit, but I saved the pics of me getting the key if anyone doubts).
Anyway, I tried this today and you are on to something. I cleared a 49 first go with 3:29 on the clock. I then upped the stakes and went for a 51. 3 times I got to the rift guardian with over 5:30 on the clock, but got horrible boss picks...Bloodmaw, Orlash and Blighter and unfortunately these guys on 51 can one shot you without desert shroud...even with a rank 53 wildebeast gem. Losing your taeguk at that level is gg!
I'm posting this so the doubters here can have a rethink.
My only concerns with the build are the attack speed using the furnace is terrible so you can get fixed into animations and hurt at really high levels pretty quickly. Secondly, not being able to have life per spirit spent on the futnace (only lifr per hit) hurts surviviability. I've tried life per hit and 10% cdr on my ancient furnace and its not as good as the spirit spent on my torch and I felt it.
Anyway, good theory crafting and good luck hunting ancient furnaces. My only gripe is that if this does become meta, the furnace becomes best in slot for yet another class...very dull!
PS. spirit use wswas not an issue and cindercoat does a solid job in managing it.
I was just curious when you were calculating the damage per spirit spent on your spreadsheet, does the damage for WoL using a torch take into account the fact that a torch can reduce the cost of WoL by up to 50%? It seems that your cell calculating this figure is using the full 75 spirit cost.
Damage per spirit spent is higher, So regardless if you run out of spirit ~ its more damage than WoL.
Please list the reasons excaliburrrr D: ~ have i overlooked something?
Nope my calcs were based on 37.5 spirit and 30%+ extra WoL damage
Only other thing that might be worth it as a third option on a roll is another 10% elite damage?
Going to go on another run at 51 with this in the next day or two. Will actually try to use the share system on PS4 to post some video.
So with cindercoat spirit spent/sec is even less than WoL. If you guys are wondering why here is the simple calculation also;
50 - (50*30/100) = 35 spirit spent for LTK, 75 - (75*50/100) = 37,5 for WoL (Even tested ingame with Weapon - Chest changes. Spammed both skills with changes. Simple logic. Seemed way less with attack speed difference on weapons)
We can't roll spirit regen on weapon tho. Since it's not a Daibo. A bit annoying.
Also it feels like Torch - Pillar of Ancients damage (with DoT) can beat Vulture Claw Kick even with the %20 fire damage bonus on chest. Meanwhile spreedsheet and perfect gear combination except Furnace for Monk.
I don't know, Hopefully i'll be wrong, Just want to see the gameplay of this build at Highest Grifts. Cause karate kid boys :p
Now getting 20% fire dmg on amulet that would be 14,2% dmg increase ( assuming u have a same amu without the fire -- (20/140=0,142)*100)
Getting 1000 dex on the same amulet would increase your dmg by ((1000/x)*100) , so 1000 dex on your amulet vs 20% fire is only a damage increase only when you have less than ~7k dex ,which you'll propably have more with this kind of gear + paragons , so in my eyes %fire> dex on amulet for pure dmg.
On the other hand dex also increases your survavibility so i guess this makes it better ( since we lose some toughness by losing aughilds ) and is propably the reason you suggest it too . Please correct if i've done any mistake or overseen something , it is just not an obvious choice between those two in my eyes .

edit:well i just realised the EP dmg is cold so its not affected by %fire dmg - so maybe that should do it
Well on paper furnace > torch, but the gameplay might feel a little awkward ~ considering the slow ASFUCK weapon attack speed. I am sure we'll get used to it though when you see your gungdo gear EP's effortlessly exploding the entire screen.
LTK will only proc LoH once regardless of how many enemy's you hit, and i am still undecided as to what my favorite stat is D: 10% + Good Wep dmg range is integral. The rest is really down to personal preference!
Yep, the main reason for not choosing elemental damage on neck was due to EP gaining no benefit whatsoever. And Dex = Survivability
- on large packs of weak mobs it doesnt seem to be very detrimental. Takes one more "chain reaction" tick, which really is nothing.
- on packs with stronger mobs/elites, the explosion actually isnt THAT weak - its 2720 + 1440% from the following dot (not present in cold version), so 2/3% of the strength on 1st one, and 3/4 on subsequent due to the dmg amplification.
- It speeds up your single target dmg, which suffers immensely even with furnace. Dmg vs guardians is actually lower then torch one even with an ancient furnace. The higher you go the more problematic rift guardians will be compared to trash mobs which WILL be exploded by palm anyway.
