Spider-Man's Sinister Six Movie Is Moving Forward, Here's The Evidence

1 hour ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

When last we saw the amazing Spider-Man on screen, he was swinging a hubcap at a charging, mechanical Rhino (Paul Giamatti) in the waning moments of Marc Webb.s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The wall-crawler's future seemed clear. He'd next be called into action to fight and defeat The Sinister Six, a villainous squad born out of OsCorp.s laboratory. Plans, though, were in flux for some time but now seem to be snapping back into place, suggesting an upcoming Sinister Six shoot. Some of this might have to be taken with a grain of salt, for reasons I'll happily explain. But a Twitter user named @ThatBlueHood posted messages that stated that The Sinister Six would be shooting in Vancouver. No time frame was given, only the knowledge that a "dude who worked on Planet of the Apes requested S6 stuff for research" and "said it was happening. »

The 100's Lindsey Morgan Reveals "Everything Hurts" for Raven After That Heartbreaking Death

24 minutes ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It was the scream heard 'round the world. Or at least around the camp, as Raven (Lindsey Morgan) looked on helplessly while Clarke (Eliza Taylor) stabbed and killed Finn (Thomas McDonnell) in front of everyone from the Ark and all the Grounders in order to spare him a full night of torture at the hands of the Grounders as punishment for massacring a village on The 100. Just thinking about it still brings tears to our eyes! Logically, what Clarke did was an act of mercy, as there was no saving Finn from death—at least she could spare him hours and hours of agonizing pain. But Finn's ex Raven will not see it that way when the CW's post-apocalyptic drama returns tonight...and the action picks up »

Film Review: ‘The Boy Next Door’

35 minutes ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Director Rob Cohen is an old hand at straightforward genre product, with a career that stretches from “Miami Vice” to “The Fast and the Furious,” and he helms the Jennifer Lopez starrer “The Boy Next Door” with the passionless precision of a filmmaker who knows the territory. That might not sound like a fatal flaw, but frankly, a hack might almost have been preferable here, injecting this silly, somnambulant thriller script about a schoolteacher who falls for a psychotic teenager with some sort of panache, distinction or perversion, or even some kind of memorable incompetence to liven up its assembly-line paces. January releases don’t get much more January than this, but given its reported $4 million budget, “The Boy Next Door” shouldn’t have too much trouble finding its way into the black.

Lopez stars as Claire Peterson, a San Fernando Valley high-school teacher who has recently separated from her »

Noir City and Jewish Film Festival Compete for San Francisco Cinephiles

38 minutes ago | Thompson on Hollywood | See recent Thompson on Hollywood news »

A new fashion among San Francisco film festivals: adding another branded event during the year, months before or after the annual festival. Both the Silent Film Festival and Noir City have winter film events — Eddie Muller, the Czar of Noir, uses the December Christmas-themed evening to reveal the program for the upcoming January Noir City. This year's theme, for lucky Noir City 13: the bonds of matrimony, or, as Eddie intoned: "Engagement ring, wedding ring, suffering." This year the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival's all-day, six-film Winterfest 2015 was scheduled opposite the second day of Noir City, making life difficult (but not impossible) for an intrepid (and compulsive) festival-goer. It was cleverly programmed: first a German fiction film, "Let's Go," directed by Michael Verhoeven, about an expatriate woman reflecting on her Jewish family's life when returning to Germany after the death of her father; then a moving documentary, "Yalom's »
