Black or White (2014)
A grieving widower is drawn into a custody battle over his granddaughter, whom he helped raise her entire life.
Director:Mike Binder |

The Buzz: Mike Binder might have found greater success with a remake of Blankman than with this earnest drama that concerns itself with issues of race and class. We're sure there are plenty of fiesty one-liners and speeches for Octavia Spencer to serve up, and that Kevin Costner's lovably gruff character ultimately has his heart in the right place, but just like Won't Back Down and other well-intentioned movies, there's a great chance that audiences just won't buy in.
Project Almanac (2014)
A group of teens discover secret plans of a time machine, and construct one. However, things start to get out of control.

The Buzz: If these teen's manage to stitch history back together properly and treat audiences to some decent CGI and escapist thrills, there's a chance they might touch down somewhere between the successes of The Butterfly Effect and Chronicle.
The Loft (2014)
Five married guys conspire to secretly share a penthouse loft in the city--a place where they can carry out hidden affairs and indulge in their deepest fantasies. But the fantasy becomes a nightmare when they discover the dead body of an unknown woman in the loft, and they realize one of the group must be involved.

The Buzz: We're into any movie that shows just how eely men are. Maybe Jennifer Lopez's character from The Boy Next Door lives across the street from these guys and will take care of any unfinished business.
Amira & Sam (2014) - [Limited]- Comedy | Drama | Romance
An army veteran's unlikely romance with an Iraqi immigrant is put to the test when she is faced with the prospect of deportation.
Director:Sean Mullin |
|

The Buzz: We love Martin Starr's supporting role on "Silicon Valley" and it's cool to see him in a leading role; Amira & Sam's greatest chance for breakout success might have something to do with co-star Paul Wesley's rabid "Vampire Diaries" cult following.
Timbuktu (2014) - [Limited]
A cattle herder and his family who reside in the dunes of Timbuktu find their quiet lives -- which are typically free of the Jihadists determined to control their faith -- abruptly disturbed.
Director:Abderrahmane Sissako |
|

The Buzz: This Best Foreign Language Oscar nominee picked up a pair of awards at Cannes. As you might expect, the film is striking nerves in Europe -- especially France in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo Attack, and in Belgium, which shuttered its annual film festival after threats.
Bande de filles (2014) - [Limited]- Drama
Oppressed by her family setting, dead-end school prospects and the boys law in the neighborhood, Marieme starts a new life after meeting a group of 3 free-spirited girls. She changes her name, her dress code, and quits school to be accepted in the gang, hoping that this will be a way to freedom.
