Showtime’s “Homeland” scored two Directors Guild of America television nominations and Jodie Foster was nominated twice for directing Netflix’s “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black” in her first DGA nominations.

Jill Soloway, whose “Transparent” just won Best Comedy at the Golden Globes, received her first DGA nomination for the Amazon series as did Mike Judge for HBO’s “Silicon Valley.” Another DGA newbie, Cary Fukunaga, landed a nom for HBO’s “True Detective.”

Besides “Orange is the New Black,” “Silicon Valley” and “Transparent,” comedy series nominations went to “Modern Family” and Louis C.K. for FX’s “Louie.” “30 Rock” won the category last year.

Game of Thrones” took a nom in drama series and will go up against the two “Homeland” episodes, “House of Cards” and “True Detective.” It was the fifth DGA nomination for Lesli Linka Glatter, who directed the “From A to B and Back Again” segment of “Homeland. »

'Twin Peaks' Returns: 25 characters we want to see in the Showtime revival

just now | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

In case I haven't expressed this adequately: I am so, so excited for Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival series. Truly overjoyed. I was a major fan of the original show and even the critically-lambasted prequel film "Fire Walk With Me" (despite the admittedly-weird "New Donna" phenomenon), and there are a bunch of characters I'm looking forward to catching up with. So who will return for David Lynch and Mark Frost's belated followup? With Monday's announcement that Kyle MacLachlan would be reprising his role as Agent Dale Cooper, it got me to thinking of who else I'd like to see when the show premieres next year. From Sherilyn Fenn's sultry Audrey Horne to the cryptic clairvoyant known as the Log Lady to David Duchovny's cross-dressing DEA agent Denise Bryson, below I've highlighted 25 characters I'm hoping to see when the show debuts next year. And true to the world that »

TCA: The Importance of Diversity & ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat”

1 hour ago | IMDb Television Blog | See recent IMDb Television Blog news »

Press Tour wouldn’t be Press Tour without a few stunningly thoughtless questions posed to panels of actors and producers. Now, most of the terrible questions that get asked as part of the Television Critics Association’s press conferences don’t turn up in articles. We keep them as Press Tour war stories to be hauled out for …

Body of Aspiring Actress Carmen Yarira Esparza Noriega, 27, Found in Mexico City Water Tank 11 Months After She Went Missing

4 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

This Mexico City mystery had a particularly sad ending. The body of 27-year-old Carmen Yarira Esparza Noriega, a brunette beauty who according to her friends aspired to be an actress, was found in a drinking water tank just before Christmas, Fox News Latino reports. She had been missing since February. Per the report, city health officials found her decomposed body after residents at the Grand Chapuletepec apartment complex complained that their drinking water tasted strange. Family members identified Noriega's remains on Christmas Eve and coroner officials said that she was also identifiable from information on breast and hip implants. The investigation into what happened to Noriega is »

We Accidently Made People Believe E! Called Lena Dunham Liza Minnelli

4 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

The other night, during their Golden Globes Red Carpet coverage, our friends at E! made the tiniest of errors when they accidently labeled fellow red-headed actress Shelby Steele as actress Sophie Turner aka Sansa Stark from Game of Thrones. The internet went nutz for it. Why? Because they're the internet and they love mistakes. It's the same reason I put a "z" at the end of "nuts" two sentences back. Honestly, as mistakes go this could have been worse. The only problem is 1) It was on TV and 2) we saw it. That being the case we thought it prudent to take a good natured swipe at our E! pals the next day with a gallery of photoshopped red carpet screen caps »

Snooki Looks Better Than Ever! MTV Star Ditches Extensions and Dyes Her Hair—See Her Dramatic Transformation!

4 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

First the poof and now the extensions!  Nicole "Snooki" Paloozi took to Instagram today to share a shot of her dramatic new 'do after chopping her locks, ditching those famous extensions and dying her hair on Wednesday. "Loving this," the mother of two captioned a selfie of her short and sassy hairstyle. "So much easier to maintain and my kids won't have anything to hang off of anymore" Seriously, we barely recognize the reality star thanks to her tress transformation, (isn't it amazing?!) and it's safe to say the 27-year-old beauty looks better than ever.  Snooki was also kind enough to document her makeover via Instagram in addition to giving a »

Titanic Has A Deleted Scene With an Awesomely Bad Joke

4 hours ago | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

We're going to get real for a second: When Titanic came out, we saw it in the theaters no less than 13 times. And during those 13 viewings (which, truth be told, have at least doubled by now), we managed to catch pretty much every not-so-subtle joke that James Cameron snuck in. (Picasso not amounting to anything, anyone?) But apparently, Jim had a few more wisecracks up his sleeve—at least according to this recently-surfaced deleted scene. The latest gag comes courtesy of everyone's favorite Unsinkable Molly Brown (played by Kathy Bates). As Mrs. Brown sits in one of the Titanic's restaurants downing drinks and harassing the waitstaff for more ice, the infamous iceberg floats by in the »

What's in store for 'Marvel's Agent Carter'? Press Tour Live-Blog

4 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

After a frustrating oblique panel for ABC's "The Whispers," which is about something that was introduced in the original pilot but now won't be introduced until the fourth or fifth episode, it's now time for "Marvel's Agent Carter," which is blissfully about what it's about. The third "Agent Carter" episode aired on Tuesday night, so we've got some stuff to discuss, even though only five more episodes remain. The panel includes Hayley Atwell, James D'Arcy, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, Lyndsy Fonseca and a whopping seven producers, including Marvel's Jeph Loeb, creators Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, showrunners Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters, plus two other guys. Follow along below! 4:18 p.m. Et. So many executive producers.  4:19 p.m. We're starting with a clip from the next new episode, which will air in two weeks. Dominic Cooper returns! And Howard Stark and Agent Carter shout at each other! 4:20 p. »

Donnie Loves Jenny Sneak Peek: Wahlberg Is a Great Stepdad, a Disaster in the Kitchen

4 hours ago | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

[Brightcove "3989630163001" "" "" "auto"] Donnie Loves Jenny is airing its second episode on Tuesday, and we're already seeing the newlyweds in bed. Not like that. In an exclusive clip obtained by People, we see Donnie Wahlberg try to rouse wife Jenny McCarthy from slumber, with little success. Having gotten into bed at 4 a.m. after working all night, McCarthy, 42, is not up to getting out of bed to get her son Evan, 12, ready for school. When Wahlberg, 45, offers to do the job for her, she's (sleepily, groggily) hesitant despite her husband's assurance that he's "been a dad for 21 years" and that he "know[s] how »

Did Warner Bros. just plant an Oscar flag for 'In the Heart of the Sea?'

4 hours ago | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Well here's something you don't see too often. Just two months out from a planned March release, Warner Bros. has moved Ron Howard's "In the Heart of the Sea" all the way to Dec. 11, 2015. Let's all make the silly pun together: that's right in the heart of the Oscar season. The studio has a couple of options to play with on the prestige side next year. There's Joe Wright's "Pan" in the summer. There's Scott Cooper's Whitey Bulger biopic "Black Mass," though that's lingering in a weird September corridor at the moment. There's "The Intern" from Nancy Meyers in November and then there's one of the most anticipated films of the year for me, Jeff Nichols' "Midnight Special," also in November. So there isn't a whole lot to play with for awards, I guess. Or a lot of question marks, anyway. So this is either faith »
