Request a speaker

We currently run an outreach programme visiting schools, colleges, universities, festivals and other institutions and groups. Whilst we endeavour to honour all requests, our resources are limited.  Each request is considered individually, but we generally try to prioritise visiting larger groups of around 50 or more pupils and teachers, or events where more than one institution is involved (eg school study days). We offer videoconferencing and may suggest this for schools and universities that have these facilities.

Our sessions have proved of interest to students from a wide range of disciplines, so if you teach a Film or Media Studies class of a limited size, you may wish to consider whether others in your school might benefit from joining a BBFC session. We also work with partners like the BFI, Film Nation and independent cinemas, eg the Picturehouse chain – so we may already be speaking at events in your local area. Do contact us or email schoolvisits@bbfc.co.uk if you think we may be coming to your area already.

Sessions typically consist of a presentation by a member of our Education Team, illustrated by clips from recent, controversial or interesting films, with time allocated for questions and discussion. Occasionally, sessions can be tailored to the needs of a particular group or film, although we need plenty of notice for this. You can download this document for a more detailed explanation of our sessions, what we need from our hosts, and our technical requirements.

Fill in the form below to request a speaker. The BBFC are a not for profit organisation and there is no charge for a BBFC session. However, we do ask institutions with a budget for visiting speakers and events to contribute towards our travel costs where possible.

We make every effort to arrange a visit on one of your preferred dates, but a high level of demand means that we are often booked up well in advance of popular dates and we may have to suggest alternatives.
:
To minimise travel and accommodation costs, we may suggest alternative timings on dates you suggest.
