The Guardian announces series of US editorial appointments

The Guardian has today announced a series of editorial appointments at Guardian US. The announcement was made by incoming US editor-in-chief Katharine Viner.

Dominic Rushe, currently US business correspondent and a key member of the Guardian's Pulitzer Prize-winning NSA reporting team, has been appointed to technology editor, east coast.

Alex Needham, a former culture editor for theguardian.com and an arts editor of the Guardian in the UK, will join Guardian US as arts editor.

Oliver Laughland, a reporter for Guardian Australia and recipient of the prestigious NRMA Kennedy Award for outstanding online news breaking, will also join Guardian US as a senior reporter.

"Dominic, Alex and Oliver are a terrifically talented group of individuals who bring the Guardian's unique voice to lead new areas of coverage in the US," said Viner. "This will be the first of many upcoming editorial appointments, and I'm excited to build on the Guardian US's success and deepen the relationship with our American readers," she added.

They will take up their roles in fall 2014 and will be based in the Guardian's New York newsroom.
