Spring Training in Little Rock

Spring Training in Little Rock, AR took place between 1895-1921. Teams trained at West End Park.

History

The city hosted it's first team in 1895 when the St. Louis Browns moved their camp from Hot Springs to Little Rock because of an outbreak of small pox.

In exchange for the use of West End Park in 1908, the Red Sox traded a 20-year old ballplayer named Tris Speaker to the Little Rock Travelers. Speaker went on to hit .350 for the Travelers before being repurchased by the Red Sox for $500. He spent the next 22 seasons playing for Boston and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1937.
