Reece Tatum
Biography
A lanky, goofy character, Reece Tatum was every bit an entertainer as he was a natural athlete. Known to fans by his nickname "Goose", Tatum began his professional career in the later 1930s with the Louisville Black Colonels as a teenager. Later, he played with the Memphis Red Sox, Birmingham Black Barons, and Cincinnati Clowns before signing with the Indianapolis Clowns in 1945, playing with the team through 1948.
Tatum also was a longtime member of the Harlem Globetrotters and was considered the team's star player. He is often best remembered for his antics, but he was also a very talented player.
Tatum died on January 18, 1967 in El Paso, TX. In 2011, he was posthumously elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
