Ray Longley
Waymon "Ray" "Red" Longely , born September 7th, 1909 in Little Rock, AR, was a Negro League baseball player from 1931-1947.Biography
Longley debuted with the Little Rock Greys in 1931. In 1932, he signed with the Memphis Red Sox and continued to play with them until 1947.
On September 15th, the Memphis Red Sox played the New York Black Yankees at Travelers Field in Little Rock. Longley was honored and the day was declared "Red Longley Day" by local fans1.
Longley died in July, 1977 in Memphis, TN.
