Yay, it's here. So far, I'm not too impressed yet but hopefully will get better. I am really looking forward to some of the sequels like Psycho Pass, Log Horizon, Chaika, etc.
Denki-gai no Honya-san was kinda amusing today I guess. |

I gotta say, I love the anime machine: every 12 weeks we get a whole new batch of shows to love/hate/ignore!
Always look forward to the preview guide to see how my opinions line up with ANN's previewers and other posters. I groaned/chuckled at Nick's Ursus-themed puns in his Terraformars preview. |

Why is no one, and I repeat, no one ever bringing up the fact that the humanoid cockroaches in Terraformars look like incredibly-racist caricatures of black people?
As an actual black person, they turned me off immediately to the series and I refuse to watch it no matter how good it could possibly be. |

Not to be too alarmist, but what does "Sponsored by Funimation" mean in this context? I'm inclined to give you folks the benefit of the doubt, but this at least creates the appearance of a conflict-of-interest WRT reviews of shows that Funi will be streaming...

A new season's always exciting! I don't have many shows this season that I'm really interested in (mostly just sequels. YowaPeda: Grande Road, Log Horizon 2, Gundam Build Fighters TRY among a few others) but I generally try to check out an episode of everything, in case something might surprise me.
so far GENKI-DAI has been my favorite, mostly because it was a lot funnier than I expected it to me. It's not uproarious or anything, but I enjoyed it and the episode went by a lot faster than I realized. Tribe Cool Crew sure is a kids show, but I can't hold any ill-will towards it. It's too happy and sincere to really dislike, but it's just not my thing. Terra Formars was just uuuuuuuuugly. Ugly and drab and kind of a chore to sit through. I'm not certain how they managed to make a death-match against a bear boring, but they did it. The rest of the show might pick up, but the execution so far has left me cold. Won't be following it unless there's nothing else worthwhile this season. |

Means they paid us to put their logos on the feature banner and there will be banners for the shows they're streaming on the pages for those shows. A whole lot of people read the preview guide, popular content attracts sponsors. Happens everywhere. Most importantly: it has absolutely zero impact on editorial. We don't care who's sponsoring what, you will get nothing but honest opinions. This is how it is 100% of the time with every piece of editorial content. |

Are subscribers meant to get those sponsored banners as well? Because I've been seeing them on the fast server.

Having just seen Chaika a few weeks ago, I can now also add that to my list of anime I'm anticipating. There's also Akatsuki no Yona, Mushishi Zoku 2, Parasyte, and Psycho-Pass 2.
I don't think any of them have been announced for Crunchyroll yet, correct? PP will probably be Funi. I imagine they'd probably try for Parasyte as well (seems up their alley). CR had Chaika and Mushishi Zoku, so I can expect that to continue, hopefully. Just uncertain about Akatsuki at this point. |

Yep. There's no setup in our backend system for me to make a special subscriber-only version of the preview guide without any of the sponsorship logos. |

Aaand we're off!
I thought the Evil Rich People montage and the cage match opening of Terra Formars reminded me of Shigurui and Texhnolyze respectively, so it made me laugh when I learned that Hiroshi Hamasaki directed all of them. I didn't think this episode was up to those works, but I'll stick with it for awhile to see how it develops. I dropped in on Tribe Cool Crew just to see how the dancing was, but probably won't keep with it when other series come on line. It was weird, it kept sounding like Gon and Killua's seiyuu for the lead boys, but turns out not. The balloon-y font used for the title card for Denki-Gai is usually the sign for me to pass on about 2/3 of the series that use it, and the reviews suggest this is among the 2/3. |

I'll have to talk to Dan to see if there is a way to hide that side-bar and the banners from you guys. It might not happen till January though The logo on the Marquee will definitely be unavoidable. |

This is what I expected, but it's still great to get it explicitly. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my concerns! |

I haven't even finished all my summer shows and it's already fall...They sure don't waste time, do they? Nothing that's aired yet really interests me, but the season is worthwhile just because it has more Mushishi, which should include some of my favorite stories from the manga so of course I'm excited. Otherwise, I'll definitely be watching the new Chaika and Parasyte. I also plan to check out the new Ghibli show, Akatsuki no Yona, Orenchi no Furo Jijou, and the Kuro Ouji shoujo thing. I'll probably give Magic Kaito a look if I have time, too, because Conan. Seven Deadly Sins and Your Lie in April might be worth checking out, but I'll wait for the preview guide on those. |

Might as well do the obligatory list of things I'm most intrigued by for the upcoming season. A surprising lot of them this time around, actually:
- Garou (because people were raving about the source material) - Akatsuki no Yona (read a bit of the manga and it looks like an action-y shoujo series, which I tend to like) - Parasyte (again, read the manga) - Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis (directed by the same person who did Karas and Tiger & Bunny, so it'll at least be nice to look at...everything else depends on the script) - more Mushi-shi - and Psycho-Pass 2 (of course) Hopefully some of those will pan out, and maybe a few surprises among the remainder. |

Here we go again.
Can't wait for people to start complaining about moe again. But seriously I like the previews, and I'm glad to you guys started doing episode reviews. Does anyone know who's streaming the kyoani show? I couldn't find it on crunchyroll. |

Helter Skelter GN
