Penalty likely for Signature Bridge delay

NEW DELHI: Chief secretary D M Spolia has directed the managing director of DTTDC to penalize the contractor of the Signature Bridge for the massive delay in the project. Spolia has also asked him to ensure the bridge is complete by January 2015.

In September, DTTDC had told TOI that the project, which should have been completed before the 2010 CWG, was likely to be finished by 2015-end though the contractor was asking for time till January 2016.

In a review held with heads of departments and principal secretaries, Spolia expressed concern at the status of revenue collection and asked the revenue, trade and taxes, excise and transport departments to take "serious measures to meet revenue targets and present an action plan for achieving the target for revenue collection as set in the budget".

The CMD of DTC has been asked to submit a report on purchase of buses, installation of GPS in them, relocation of Millennium Bus Depot, construction of new depots and the frequency and monitoring of bus services. The chief secretary also asked for an action plan to keep DTC buses clean.

Spolia also reviewed the status of the Baprola Knowledge Park and the Naraina Industrial Estate.
