POES

Dataset Description Spatial Information Temporal Information Access
POES Level 1b Raw data files for instruments on the NOAA polar orbiting satellite series are available through CLASS. These include AVHRR, HIRS, MSU, AMSU, and other instruments. Global; varying resolution 1979–present CLASS
CDR PATMOS Reflectance Calibrated reflectance for AVHRR reflectance channels (ch1, ch2, ch3a, ch3b) with climate quality. The data are in equal angle orbital (ascending and descending) grid and in both netCDF and HDF formats. Global; 0.1 deg Daily; 1978–2009 THREDDS
CDR HIRS OLR Climate Data Record Program intercalibrated HIRS clear sky brightness temperatures for channel 12. Being sensitive to upper tropospheric humidity, this channel provides information on the distribution and transport of water vapor in the atmosphere. Global; 2.5 deg Monthly; 1979–2010 THREDDS
CDR HIRS Ch. 12 Climate Data Record Program intercalibrated High-Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS) clear sky brightness temperatures for channel 12. Being sensitive to upper tropospheric humidity, this channel provides information on the distribution and transport of water vapor in the atmosphere. Global; varying resolution Twice daily per satellite; 1979–2010 FTP
VTPR The Vertical Temperature Profile Radiometer (VTPR) was an operational 8-channel sounding system mounted on the NOAA-2 through NOAA-5 spacecrafts. The instrument made routine observations for deriving atmospheric temperature soundings. Global; varying resolution

Microwave

Dataset Description Spatial Information Temporal Information Access

CDR UAH MSU/AMSU Tb

Climate Data Record of the UAH version of Mean Layer Temperatures (MLTs) for the lower troposphere (TLT), middle troposphere (TMT), and lower stratosphere (TLS), using the Microwave Sounding Unit (MSU) and the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit (AMSU). Global; 2.5 deg Monthly; 1978–2011 THREDDS
