What's Happening Now
My abdominal pain starts around 2 pm. I have a small lunch but that has no effect on the pain. It gets really painful and then remains so for the rest of the day. The only relief I get (a bit) is lying down.
I've been to many, many doctors and no one can figures it out. I tried prednisone and rifaximin without success. I was in perfect health with none of these symptoms a year ago. Started getting them after a bout of diarrhea in Mexico and a colonoscopy (about the same time).
I started having these symptoms a year ago and they have gotten worse over time. In addition, I developed neuropathy in hands and feet, swollen feet and calves, stiffness in hands and feet, a groove in my tongue, GERD, dry mouth, hypersensitivity to heat (sunlight). I force myself to walk but it can be painful, and sometimes I feel dizzy when walking. I am taking no medication other than sleep meds (I can only sleep 3-4 hours a night without them).
Does anyone have any idea what I can do? I'm at my wit's end with this. Thanks.View Thread
It all started 2.5 years ago when I was diagnosed with Rayneaud's disease, where my toes turn purple due to cold.
About a year and a half ago, I started getting high blood pressure, and constant stomach bloating. My stomach will bloat after eating or drinking anything. By the end of the night, I look like I'm several months pregnant! Also, I get this upper abdominal pain periodically that lasts about a week, goes away, then comes back later. With the pain is nausea. The pain is in the middle of my upper abdomen, right between my rib cage.
Here are some of the tests that have been done, all coming back with normal results:
Primary Doctor:
-took me off birth control (no change in bp)
-Celiac panel
-blood tests and UAs
-chest X-ray
-Renal (kidney) ultrasound
-Abdominal ultrasound
-Transvaginal ultrasound
-Thyroid tests (TSH, T3 total, free T4)
Gastro Doctor:
-Upper endoscopy — found mild inflammation
-Upper GI
-Lactose breath test
-low fodmap diet
Cardio Doctor:
-urine sample to test adrenal glands
-Echocardiogram
I am currently on 10 mg of amlodipine to lower blood pressure. No other medications. I've tried probiotics, gas-x, and miralax, nothing helps with the bloating.

I am sorry that you are experiencing these symptoms. This article says that many people with acid reflux also experience symptoms of dyspepsia: Nausea after eating, stomach fullness, bloating, and/or upper abdominal pain and discomfort. Here is some more information on dyspepsia that says loss of appetite and feeling uncomfortably full after eating are also symptoms among others. Have you spoken with your doctor about this being a possibility? Have you been tested for any food allergies that could cause bloating? Please let us know how you are doing.View Thread

I concluded that my major problem was slow parastalsis, because on occasion I would vomit 7 hours after eating after feeling nauseous for hours.
Then I noted that I had a craving for hot and sour soup (Chinese) and that I was never sick after eating a Chinese meal no matter how late or how much. My husband, an internist by training, suggested a small sprinkling of mSG on my food, stating it was not poisonous in small doses since it is glutamate, which the body produces naturally, and less sodium than salt. So I have been trying it. It really does seem to be very effective.
By the way I have taken apple cider vinegar in water and bitters... but a small dose of MSG does indeed seem to be doing the trick for me.View Thread
my personal opinon? COuld be hemorrhoids. but any "personal" opinion is no substitute for seeing doctor. DO not let this go on longer without seeing doc. Meanwhile, here's a Webmd article about hemorrhoids.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

The ingredient in bread, as itself, is also used in yeast and dough conditioners so accumulation of various sources, along with other ingredients add up no matter how minute. It is calcium sulfate. There was a book available by Ruth Winter on food additives that was a big help to me, along with information I received from a PhD. friend and husband who asked me to join them, with some MD's, to speak before the FASEB committee in 1993. They have jurisdiction over the FDA. The FDA does not care. They should be called the Fool and Deceive Agency. Not everyone can be trusted. The study was flawed and a big waste of taxpayers money. We are all on our own which is why the Bible says to test everything.View Thread
It would be best for your husband to see a doctor to determine if the pain that he is having is linked to ulcers. In the meantime, here is some information on understanding ulcer treatment . Avoiding foods that irritate your stomach -- spicy and fatty foods are common culprits--, eating smaller more frequent meals, drinking alcohol only in moderation, and easing stress levels with exercise and relaxation techniques may also help. Here is some more information that may be of interest to you. Please let us know how he is doing!View Thread
One thing that does really help is taking magnesium supplements, but only to the point of a soft stool, not diarrhea. I also found that a small (1/4 to 1/3 cup) raisin bran helps to keep the stool consistent and the colon comfortable full. Tends to spasm less for me. You may need more or less, everyone seems to be different with this syndrome! Probiotics help also. I use Lactinex - you get it from the pharmacist. It's kept in the frig behind the counter. Seems to be the most effective for me. Good luck!View Thread
