When recording I use Breathe Right nasal strips which work extremely well, but they are too unsightly for onstage use.
I had spreader grafts done some years ago but they were never that effective.
I am hoping to find someone capable of manufacturing a custom appliance that I can fit in my nose for a couple of hours at a time.
I thought of modeling the inside of my nose using the material that is used for taking an impression of the ear canal, then having someone make a very thin rigid appliance that would prevent the nasal walls collapsing.
I've consulted with an ENT and a nose surgeon and neither had any idea of how to go about this.
Any suggestions???
Thanks

I am a 48 year old Australian woman, with a 9 month history of tinnitus post a nasty external ear infection with cellulitis/mastoiditis?, for which i was treated with iv cipro, clindamycin, and steroids for 24 hours. Shortly after discharge, i noticed the t and has been with me ever since.
I felt i was starting to habituate till a week ago when i ended up with yet another external ear infection. i was initially given neomycin drops, which i used for a day before i read that this is highly ototoxic. (my t seemed a lot more intrusive prior to using the drops). i discontinued the medication, and started oral Keflex (as i have a penicillin allergy) 2 days ago. the infection is improving, but the muffled hearing (which is relieved by putting my head down which suggests i have fluid in my middle ear and not a true hearing loss??) and loud intrusive tinnitus is not. im starting to get anxious about this.
im concerned that this muffled hearing is an extension of my pre-existing hearing loss as a result of the infection, the abs, or other.
if i know ill get back to my baseline, ill relax, but not sure how im going to cope if it stays at the current level. i feel that im really suffering (and not in silence!)
in addition to my head noise, ear noise, i have an occasional pulsating sound in my right ear that is a bit bothersome....im terrified itll get worse permanently.
thanks

I have had trouble with my ears in the past, ear infections and all that from when I was born until a few years ago. I'm wondering if I need a doctors help or if it's something I can do from home. Thanks!View Thread

As this article explains, not all tinnitus can be eliminated, and I don't believe doctors can determine from the outset what category your tinnitus will fall into. The above link has some things that you can do to try to lessen or mask your tinnitus. This article also explains that in some people alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes, and stress can worsen tinnitus. Please let us know how you are doing!View Thread
Getting my hair washed at the salon is torture! I end up twitching every time the stylist passes the sprayer over that spot on my head. I hate it, it's uncomfortable.
I thought I was the only person in the world who had this "quirk" until I was rubbing my 7 month old son's head at bedtime and noticed his back tweaking too!!! Poor kid, he's just like his mommy! That was what prompted me to google this and it led me here. I am so relieved that we aren't the only ones!
I noticed that there was a reference made to sensory processing issues and also to Fibromyalgia, which is very interesting as I have both (and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome too!) I do wonder if this "tickle" is related.View Thread
My Mum has had really bad sinuses for years - in the past she has had polyp (sp) surgery which didn't work and has been on steroids.
She feels that the steroids worked somewhat but her doctor will not give her them again for some reason.
Does anyone have any advice? She can't smell properly and has very swollen sinuses - it's taking over her life
She takes antihistamines daily and uses a nasal spray.View Thread
A couple of weeks ago I was out walking and a feral cat jumped on my leg and stuck all of its claws into my leg. I had shorts on and the cat jumped on me from behind and used me like it was jus walking up a tree. When I used my arm to pull it off of me, it also clawed at my arm. I did not get bitten, but blood was everywhere and I was very hurt. I cleaned up the wounds and within 2 days I had a fever and flu symptoms. My research online lead me to the need of a tetanus shot because I could not remember the last time I had one. But I decided to wait until my fever went away to go to the doctor. I don't like to take antibiotics and pain pills. I just knew if I went to the doctor that she would make a big deal about the cat attack and give me a bunch of meds.
So, this past Thursday when I was feeling better I went in for a tetanus shot and my doctor really scolded me for not coming in. Apparently animal attacks can cause a long list of problems. She gave me a TDAP and by the time I got home I had a major headache. I am prone to migraines so I took my usual migraine medication and was surprised that it did not stop the progression of my pain. I had trouble resting because of the pain and eventually feel asleep with much difficulty.
When I woke up my neck was completely stiff. I spent all day Friday rubbing Bengay on my neck and shoulders. I tried ice, my tens unit, everything I could think of. When I woke up Saturday I thought for sure my neck would have been more relaxed. It was worse. It's like all the muscles in my neck have tightened up and they won't relax. The pain is so intense that I am afraid it's going to lead to tension headaches, that lead to migraines if I can't relax.
Last night was Saturday night and I couldn't get comfortable to sleep. Every time I moved while I was asleep the pain in my neck woke me up. Now it is Sunday and I just came across this thread. What upsets me is the stiff neck is not listed as a side affect for the TDAP. It is an obvious side effect. They should say in the literature that some people get the stiffest neck of their life. They should also devise a course of treatment for the stiff neck because I am in extraordinary pain. I don't think it is fair that I have to go back to a doctor just to have them tell me my stiff neck was not from the shot.
It was 100% from the shot. My neck was perfect before the shot. I did not get injured, work out or sleep in a different place after the shot. There is nothing that could have caused me to have neck pain and complete stiffness like this. I do feel like my onset of a migraine after the shot means that I definitely had a neurological reaction to something in the shot. This could have lead to the neck muscles contracting, but why is everyone's neck stiffening so intensely and not relaxing? This is a real side effect that needs to be researched.
Thank you to all the people that commented on this thread. At least now I know that it isn't all in my head.

I have had several (might say severe) tonsil infections over the past four months. I've been given 10 rounds of antibiotics and very time I ended up with returning pain after several days of finishing my course. At one point I was given Amoxicilin 1g twice a day, for 30 days.
I am not taking any medicine at the moment, but I am concerned over the pain I have been having in my throat. It is not the same as when I had the infections, it feels more like bruise pain. I also noticed that the tissue in my mouth has become white. I have done some research and the closest thing that has come up on the subject was a foreign tissue forming on that area. However there is no extra tissue in my case, everything seems to be in place. Often the whiteness goes away after I eat something spicy, drink something hot or oxidized.
I have read that it may be due to dryness and lack of saliva, but I don't use my mouth to breathe and I definitely don't lack moisture.
I was hoping someone could tell me what is going on. I have addressed several doctors about this issue, but I never got a straight answer.
What is causing this, and should I be worried?
Is there anything I can do to fix it on my own, like eating certain foods, or rinsing?
