Stars: Danielle Harris, Katharine Isabelle, Glen Jacobs, Chelan Simmons, Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Greyston Holt, Lee Majdoub, Michael Eklund, Reese Alexander, Kelly-Ruth Mercier | Written by Nathan Brookes, Bobby Lee Darby | Directed by Jen Soska, Sylvia Soska

WWE Studios have some success and some failure with their releases but with See No Evil the reception was definitely mixed.  One of their earliest movies it used Glen “Kane” Jacobs in the role of the psychotic killer Jacob Goodnight and I will admit to liking it, it had its flaws but it was fun a fun horror with plenty of gore.  When the See No Evil 2 was announced it caught the attention of horror fans with the Soska Sisters were taking the reigns as directors and bringing scream queens Danielle Harris and Katharine Isabelle with them as part of the cast.

Following straight on from the first See No Evil, Jacob Goodnight is brought »

Interview: Daniel Radcliffe talks ‘Horns’

21 October 2014 11:21 AM, PDT

From master-of-horror Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) comes Horns, a supernatural, offbeat thriller starring beloved British actor Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, Kill Your Darlings) and Juno Temple (Magic Magic, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For).

Ig Perrish (Daniel Radcliffe) is accused for the violent rape and killing of his girlfriend, Merrin Williams (Juno Temple). After a hard night of drinking, Ig awakens, hungover, to find horns growing out of his head; they have the ability to drive people to confess sins and give in to selfish impulses. Ig decides to use this effective tool to discover the circumstances of his girlfriend’s death and to seek revenge by finding the true murderer…

In this interview for Nerdly, film correspondent James Kleinmann asks Daniel Radcliffe (who plays Ig Perrish in the film) what his initial reaction was when he read the screenplay for Horns.

‘Fury’ Review

21 October 2014 10:37 AM, PDT

Stars: Brad Pitt, Shia Labeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, Jon Bernthal, Jim Parrack, Brad William Henke, Kevin Vance, Xavier Samuel, Jason Isaacs, Anamaria Marinca, Alicia von Rittberg, Scott Eastwood, Laurence Spellman, Daniel Betts | Written and Directed by David Ayers

After End of Watch and now Fury writer/director David Ayer has shown a knack for depicting the bond that forms between people when they face death on an endless basis. Fury  falls in line with similar World War II films, like Saving Private Ryan, that do not shy away from the inhuman brutality of war. Fury will fully engage audiences with its intense battle sequences and solid performances, but what it lacks is a consistent thematic message. The weight it builds becomes cheapen as it enters into an over simplification of the glory of war.

When the film begins it appears as if Ayer is content on illustrating the futile »

‘The Smoke’ DVD Review

21 October 2014 9:05 AM, PDT

Stars: Matt Di Angelo, Lili Bordán, Stephen Marcus, Darren Ripley, Velibor Topic, Christian Brassington, Anna Passey, Jeff Leach, Lindsay Armaou, Alan Ford | Written by Darren Ripley | Directed by Ben Pickering

The modern British gangster movies are strange beasts, and I admit I do have a weakness for them. With acting that is often questionable and stories that tend to be on the sillier side of crime thrillers they have a charm that can even survive a Danny Dyer starring role (that was a joke, don’t bite my head off). The Smoke, to be fair, only takes a gentle stroll into the British gangster movie style, though it does feature some actors that you’ve seen in them before, and more bizarrely more than its fair share of soap stars too.

When city lawyer Brad Walker (Matt Di’Angelo) finds himself fired and dumped by his girlfriend it’s fair »

‘American Horror Story: Freakshow – Episode 1′ Review

21 October 2014 4:59 AM, PDT

Stars: Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Michael Chiklis, Denis O’Hare, Even Peters, Emma Roberts, Minn Wittrock, John Carroll Lunch, Patti Labelle | Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk

For the last couple of years, American Horror Story has been one of the most frequently recommended TV shows from my friends, and like most TV trends I blissfully ignored it so I can sink yet more time into Civilisation V and nuking Ghandi because, well, it’s Ghandi. Eventually though it got enough of my attention through the power of the internet and I decided to give this season a try.

Two hours later and I’ve watched the first two still unreleased episodes of season 4 (I love reviewing things, I really do) and you better believe I’m watching the rest. Episode two’s review will follow, but I honestly couldn’t wait to write about episode one. »

Screen siren Tawny Kitaen returns to our screens on the hunt for a killer in After Midnight, the latest film from renowned filmmaker Fred Olen Ray (the man behind one of my favourite horror B-movies, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers). When an exotic dancer is murdered at a seedy strip club, her sister Constance (Catherine Annette – Silent But Deadly), a TV newscaster, goes undercover to find the killer. While working at the club, she quickly realizes that everyone is a suspect and that other dancers are being targeted. She must work fast to find the killer to seek her revenge before she becomes the next target.
