Brunilda Nazario, MD

Brunilda Nazario, MD, is responsible for reviewing WebMD content and ensuring its accuracy,  timeliness, and credibility. 

Nazario works with WebMD's network of expert doctors and health care professionals where she shares her goals, vision, and the key challenges she's faced to help develop an educational and successful learning experience for WebMD's readers. Nazario is dedicated to helping readers understand health information.

Nazario has appeared on numerous radio and television interviews including CBS radio, The Evening News,  and Parade magazine, among others. She also participated in WebMD's Town Hall meeting with the first lady Michelle Obama, which celebrated the first anniversary of Let's Move, an initiative to raise a generation of healthier kids. 

After obtaining her medical degree at the University of Noreste School of Medicine in Mexico, Nazario completed her residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of California in Irvine. During her fellowship she was involved in research of vascular peptides and their interaction, for which she received the Merck Senior Fellow Award for Notable Research in 1994.

After her fellowship, Nazario joined the faculty of the University of California in Irvine. Later, she joined the faculty at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She also had a private practice in Santa Fe, N.M. She joined WebMD in 2002. 

Nazario sees patients as a volunteer consultant in endocrinology, focusing on diabetes management, weight management, and reproductive endocrine issues like  polycystic ovary syndrome, hirsutism, and menopause management. She works with medically underserved communities where the "culture of caring" and cultural competency are prime components to clinics.

Nazario is affiliated with numerous organizations including the American College of Physicians, The Endocrine Society, and the American Diabetes Association for Health Professionals.
