Queenk2, I don't have the condition, but I have spoken with people who do and they have a lot os pain and soreness in the chest afterward. Symptoms of the spasm vary based on pain perception and severity of the spasm. They can range from light to very severe.

Thanks you--now I do not feel like I am by myself. I usually can take pain but the spasm are severe and the soreness the next day is uncomfortable to say the least. Thanks.

I am so glad to get your response. The pain of the attack is awful but the double shot is the pain the next day and sometimes the day after that. I felt I was out there by myself. What do you do to relieve the pain?

The only things that typically can help are the use of anti-spasm meds, specific forms of calcium channel blockers or in some cases nitroglycerin. You need to discuss the problem with your GI doc.

Thanks, I have nitro and it can ease it somewhat but not always. Going to GI again.

I've had severe chest pain and I've described it to my GI doctor as esophageal spasm. He did an esophageal motility test but it came back normal. How were you diagnosed with it? I've been in the ER four times over the last 8 years with this. They always think it's a heart attack at first but then realize it is not and send me home asking I see my GI doctor. This always follows an endoscopy and results are the same, take care of your sensitive stomach and take more medicine. Now going to a different GI doctor.
