Check out the final trailer for Joon-ho Bong’s “Snowpiercer”, which is basically a 45-second clip of Chris Evans’ Curtis character fighting his way through the train. I don’t know who those guys in ski masks are, but I’m guessing they’re not the good guys. No one stops Captain America, boys, no one! (Especially when he has an ax.) I just hope this movie isn’t nearly as “hammer to the face” about its message as the trailers make it appear. Superman’s new pal Perry White saves us from cannibals. Or at least he tries to, in Jeff Renfroe’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie “The Colony”. Which is the second snowed-in this year, counting Joon-ho Bong’s “Snowpiercer”. Except I don’t think “Snowpiercer” has cannibals, which is a crying shame. Can you imagine cannibals on that train? Awesome! Someone make a movie, stat! Anyhoo. Rise of the planet of the monkeys! Or, rise of the planet of the 12 monkeys, anyway, because it looks like the Syfy Channel is getting into the post-apocalyptic business with a TV series based on the 1995 movie “12 Monkeys”, directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, and Madeleine Stowe. The original movie, based on the French short “La Jetee”, goes something like this: In the year 2035, convict James Cole volunteers reluctantly to be sent back in time by scientists to discover the origin of a deadly virus that wiped out nearly all of the earth’s population decades earlier. Hope you kids took your swimming lessons! Check out the new, full trailer for Francis Lawrence’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, which is a much better trailer than the first teaser they released a while back. This one actually looks interesting, with Peeta and Katniss back int he Arena for what is called the Quarter Quell. I don’t know what a Quell is, but it looks pretty damn dangerous! The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts.
