Introduction

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) is the national assessing authority in Australia for the assessment of academic qualifications in psychology for the purpose of migration. For a fee, the APS assesses the level at which an applicant's qualifications are comparable to an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) sequence of study in psychology. This service is for people who are seeking to:

  • Migrate to Australia under the General Skilled Migration Categories;
  • Apply for registration or work as a psychologist in Australia; or
  • Apply for entry into an APAC-accredited course in psychology at an Australian university.

English language proficiency now required for all APS migration assessments

From 1 May 2010, all applicants for the assessment of psychology qualifications for migration must demonstrate English language proficiency. Most applicants will be required to provide evidence of a score of 7 or more in each component of the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) as part of their application.

Please see the Guidelines and procedures attached to the application form for migration - Acrobat icon - small and the frequently asked questions for IELTS for further information, including exemptions.

Please note: Applicants not applying for the purpose of migration are not required to provide evidence of IELTS results.
