Services for families in crisis: the CAFE programme

The CSSSs provide immediate and intensive intervention services to families in crisis.

The Crise-Ado-Famille-Enfance (CAFE) programme is designed to help children aged 5 to 17 and their families when they are going through a major family crisis. Its aim is to find solutions to avoid a placement or a report to the Director of Youth Protection (DYP). The CAFE teams:

  • intervene within two hours of receiving a phone call, directly at the scene of the event (home, school, etc.);
  • monitor the situation in order to restore calm;
