Here’s an email I received from the folks at InterDok that I’m passing along. It seems like a very worthy project.

“In early April, we will begin sending donations of books and CD-Roms to several libraries in Iraq, in order to assist them with the rebuilding of their collections.

If your library has any published conference proceedings, engineering, medical or technical books you would like to donate, we will be happy to forward your material on your library’s behalf.

We will be sending shipments in April and May to the following institutions:

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not one to gush over new product announcements, even less over an “enhancement” to an established product. So I’m not going to gush over the newest incarnation ofKeesing’s data. Ok, they’re calling it a new product launch, but it’s got the same URL: Keesing’s World News Archive . It strikes me as a genuine Web 2.0 product, one that encourages user-generated indexing (tagging) and collaborative research. It’s too early to tell how this will play out in the research world of politics, world events, history, and economics, but it’s certainly an impressive beginning.

Just when I was going to review it briefly on this blog, I was asked to write a NewsBreak about it, so you should be able to see the review tomorrow here.
