Chibok Abduction: NANS Describes Jonathan As Incompetent

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has described President Goodluck Jonathan as an incompetent leader, saying students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State should have been released before now.

In a statement issued yesterday by the public relations officer of the association, Comrade Olaogun Victor, the student body lamented the further collapse of the education sector since the administration took over, saying apart from suffering from insecurity, Nigerian students have suffered the consequences of the president’s incompetence more than other Nigerians.

According to him, since the dreaded insurgent group, Boko Haram, commenced its wanton destruction of lives and properties, not less than 800 students have been killed especially in the orgies of murderous attacks on the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State University, School of Hygiene, Kano and College of Agriculture, Damaturu in Yobe State, among several others.

He said, “We cannot but imagine the harrowing experiences of these innocent girls who may have been subjected to terrible experiences within the last 100 days in captivity.

There is hardly any nation where this could happen and the president will still have the temerity to stage political campaign and dance ‘alanta,’ as our own president did in Kano just few hours after the Nyanya bombing. It was a huge display of insensitivity and gross misconduct.

‘There is hardly any nation where this could happen…’ What does that mean? As a student body I would expect you to be knowledgeable in the happenings across the world. In the Iran Hostage Crisis in 1979, 52 United states diplomats and citizens were held hostage. It took the US, with its military might, 444 days before the hostages were released. All the rescue attempts proved abortive. You should be supporting the government in the fight against the insurgence instead of blabbing like educated illiterates!

Thanks for shedding some light on this, though i’m not surprised this is coming from the National Association of Non Serious Students

    • simon tor gideon

Please note that these students are not held in a different country but right here in Nigeria. So your comparism of what happened in Iraq that is a different entity and far away from America does not hold water.USA can never, never allow her teenage girls to be held captive by any organisation within the boundries of its enclave for this long. Our govt is simply inept that`s all

NANS ? The most corrupt and useless association in Nigeria talking about incompetence ? This should never be a news, NANS are completely money-driven and lacks any form of credibility.

    • odiate obong

they just want to be heared

      • Oludare Fasomo

Jonathan should not mind the National Association of Non-serious Students, they are looking for what to eat.

  • odiate obong

this is not suprising coming from nans.you should know better.you of all bodies should be supporting the government.

    • Oludare Fasomo

Don’t you know them when we were in school? they are always driven by money, bread and butter.

      • Mr. P

I am very disappointed with this statement coming from NANS.. They should proffer solutions to Mr. President.

    • Broodyn

True talk, Obong. They should be supporting the government. Instead of all these nonsense talk. They are the once that give our leaders the impression that young people are not mature enough to be part of the decision making process of the nation. Older folks just have these automatic assumption that all youths know is drugs, party, alcohol, sex, etc, which is not so.

      • Mr. P

NANS should be in the forefront in support for our troops and our government to defeat this terrorists trying to destroy our country and our future….

  • Mr. P

NANS should proffer suggestions to our government on possible and alternative ways we can end this present security challenges not name calling….

    • pmgash..

HONESTLY..SO DISAPPOINTED WITH HIS STATEMENT..SOMETHING TELLS ME HE WAS TIPPED TO RUBBISH THE NAME OF THE PRESIDENT..BUT IT WOULDN’T DETER THE PRESIDENT FROM DOING WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE NATION..

  • J Moss

its really annoying when all people do is figure out problems…OFCOURSE THATS THE EASY PART…why not proffer solutions instead…is the man not human too? na wa aooo

  • Gela

This is not the time to push blames and accusations. It is a time to proffer solution to the problem.
