Kansas Historical Society headquartersA state agency, the Historical Society will post job openings here in addition to State of Kansas. The Historical Society employs people in a variety of areas including librarians, archivists, historic preservation specialists, archeologists, museum curators, registrars, exhibits designers, educators, graphic designers, historical editors, historic sites managers, and maintenance and clerical positions.

  • Part-time temporary Custodial Specialist (#178068) - Position provides maintenance services required for special events. This position will average 12 hours per week. Start time is generally 5 p.m. during week days and varies during weekends. Duties include setting up and taking down tables and chairs, AV equipment, movable partitions and stages. This position is also responsible for general facility cleaning before, during, and after events. Candidates must be able to lift 60 lbs. Two positions available. Open until filled. Kansas Historical Foundation

The Historical Foundation employs people in fundraising, retail sales, membership development, and clerical positions. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation that supports the programs of the Historical Society. Job openings will be posted here when available and include information about application procedures. It is not possible to use the State of Kansas Civil Service applications for these positions.

  • Part-time Capitol Store Sales Associate--position provides good customer service, demonstrates product knowledge, completes sales using TAM (The Assistant Manager) electronic retail software, and restocks, arranges and displays merchandise in the Capitol Store at the Kansas State Capitol. Training will be provided. The position works from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for a total of 25 hours a week. Candidates must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, climb step-stools, and stand for long periods of time. Pay is $9.00 per hour. One position is available and will be open until filled.   • The Kansas Historical Foundation is seeking substitute and seasonal employees to work in the Capitol and Museum Store, give tours of the Capitol and dome, and serve as a gallery monitor at the Kansas Museum of History. We are looking for customer-service oriented, responsible workers. Training will be provided. These staff members will be part of a team of substitute and seasonal employees with a schedule to be set either two or more weeks in advance, or on short notice as needed (like a substitute teacher). Pay is $9 per hour. Positions are open until filled.
