Born August 21, 1936, Wilt Chamberlain moved to Kansas in 1955 to play basketball at the University of Kansas where he averaged 30 points per game. He was twice named All-American.

Events in Kansas History
In August 1856 citizens of Lawrence were being harassed by proslavery men who were camped nearby, in Franklin, and at Fort Titus. They wanted the government to "Enforce the Law" and allow slavery. Freestaters had other ideas.
