Lifetime digs up dirt on 'Saved by the Bell'

Lifetime didn't make "The Unauthorized 'Saved by the Bell' Story" (9 tonight) available for review by my deadline but based on the trailer above it's sure to be a cheese-tastic good time, although its veracity may be questionable.

Amazon launches third set of pilots today, including the new Chloe Sevigny show 'The Cosmopolitans'

So far no streaming series on Amazon Prime Instant Video has managed to gain the buzz accorded several Netfilx programs, but the book (and everything else) seller will try again with its third pilot season that debuts today.

Three half-hour comedies and two one-hour thrillers are in the latest batch, including "The Cosmopolitans," starring Chloe Sevigny, previously the star of the canceled A&E, set-in-Pittsburgh thriller "Those Who Kill." "The Cosmopolitans" is about American ex-patriates in Paris and it was filmed on location in France.

The late, lamented 'Now & Again' now on DVD

The short-lived, 1999 CBS drama "Now and Again" finally arrived on DVD this week.

The series told the story of Michael Wiseman, a man who dies (played by John Goodman) and comes back with his brain and soul in the bio-engineered body of a twentysomething government agent (Eric Close, "Nashville"). Wiseman pines for his wife (Margaret Colin, "Gossip Girl") and is under the thumb of a government boss (Dennis Hasybert, "24").

"Now and Again" made my list of the Top 10 TV shows of 1999 and I argued in favor of its renewal in April 2000 to no avail. It was a one-and-done series.

Say goodbye to 'Chelsea Lately'

It's the end of the road for late-night show "Chelsea Lately" on E! tonight at 11, leading to an even more male-dominated late-night TV landscape.

Host Chelsea Handler has already lined up a new series on Netflix for 2016, though it remains to be seen how well a daily talk show can flourish in the online streaming medium.
