STEM Works

STEM Works

Created through Governor Mike Beebe's Workforce Cabinet, STEM Works is a pilot program to strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education in Arkansas's high schools and universities.

Body:

The goal is to ensure the state will be able to meet the escalating demand for employees in high-tech fields by implementing new ways in which Arkansas high-school students receive STEM education and to increase the number of well-qualified STEM teachers. Through STEM Works, Arkansas's students will be better prepared to pursue college degrees in STEM disciplines.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS

New Tech Network

New Tech offers a model for schools to facilitate project-based learning across the curriculum.  Students work in groups, deeply engaged in projects that encompass multiple disciplines of learning and large, open areas provide an environment for collaboration.  Classroom teachers also serve as facilitators and guides and help students direct their own learning.
