NY police officer Ralph Sarchie investigates a series of crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest, schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the possessions that are terrorizing their city.

The Buzz: Scott Derrickson has directed two similarly themed hits already: The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister, and the studio behind this thriller has effectively message the based-on-true-events nature of the story - something that tends to sway audiences. Look for Eric Bana to get the Ethan Hawke career bump if Deliver does just that, and we think there's something to be seen in him pairing up with Edgar Ramirez, even if the latter cannot help being ridiculously sexy when playing a priest.

After losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, a woman hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother.

The Buzz: Weird to realize it's been 23 years since Susan Sarandon was behind the wheel ... It's remarkable to see Melissa McCarthy opening her own film over Fourth of July weekend with nary a superhero or sequel in direct competition (though even with a massive drop T4 should top the box office in its second outing). We are wondering if the marketing campaign has focused a bit too much on the fast-food joint robbery and showing Tammy as a crook/vigilante instead of spotlighting the fact that her character is facing a crisis -- a much more relatable and cathartic story idea. This road comedy is also a major relationship tester since her McCarthy's husband, Ben Falcone, is making his debut as director.

Certificate PG   -   Adventure | Family | Sci-Fi

Metascore: 51/100 (28 reviews)
After receiving a bizarre series of encrypted messages, a group of kids embark on an adventure with an alien who needs their help.

The Buzz: If Super 8 was a love letter to 1980s-style filmmaking, this adventure story looks to pay a similar form of tribute with its tech-savvy teens and their bicycle-based campaign to help the alien life form they discover. There's even a character named "Munch" - a direct nod to The Goonies. Relativity Media isn't established enough as a distributor to create a blockbuster hit, but Munch and his pals could still perform well if their real-life peers turn up on opening weekend.

Certificate PG-13 Documentary

Metascore: 8/100 (6 reviews)
A story that imagines that the United States lost the Revolutionary War and therefore never existed.

The Buzz: Two indisputable facts about filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza: his last project, 2016: Obama's America, is the second-highest grossing political documentary in its titular country; he was found guilty of campaign finance law violation earlier this year. And a general fact: as a felon, his films have replaced his right to vote or hold political office.

Certificate R   -   Documentary | Biography

Metascore: 88/100 (14 reviews)
A documentary film that recounts the inspiring and entertaining life of world-renowned film critic and social commentator Roger Ebert.
Director:

The Buzz: Roger Ebert had a hand in shaping this project before he passed, and the fact that he did not want director Steve James to shy away from his battles with alcohol and sex proves that Ebert was one of his best critics. Rest in peace and opinion.

Certificate R   -   Thriller

A chance encounter with a mysterious young woman leads a documentary filmmaker down a very different road than he intended as he works on his latest project.
Director:

The Buzz: "Lost" vet Henry Ian Cusick is back on the small screen in "The 100" and his starring role in this mystery should result in high VOD returns.
