Japan – 24 Hour Advance Manifest Rule (AHR)

15 Apr 2014

Hapag-Lloyd informs about the 24 Hour Advance Manifest Rule.

This information is to provide an update to relevant NVO/Forwarder customers who are going to file AHR with Japan Customs.

We have experienced an increasing number of vessel mismatch messages from Japan Customs. The majority of these mismatch messages are related to transshipments via China, South Korea and Taiwan before arriving at Japanese ports.

An updated booking confirmation is being issued by our transshipment teams, which provides the necessary details required for your filing of AHR with Japan Customs. The booking confirmation is sent to the original booking confirmation receiver or the regular booking contacts when the vessel information is updated.

Please refer to the sample below of an “updated Booking Confirmation”:

The information includes:

  • Vessel Call Sign, Vessel Name & Voyage: AHR relevant vessel information
  • Port of Loading: Port where cargo is loaded onto the Japan going vessel
  • Port of Loading Suffix: In case the vessel calls more than two times a week between the same port pairs, suffix is required for NACCS to differentiate each port calls
  • ETA: Estimated Arrival time for AHR relevant vessel at the Port of Loading
  • Port of Discharge: AHR relevant Japanese discharge port

Additionally, please be reminded to include a completion flag in your AHR filing according to the instruction by the Japan Customs on March 20, 2014.
