At HighBeam Research, we strive to make our billing practices simple and easy to understand. We want customers to know when they will be billed and how to update account information – even if that means cancelling a free trial or subscription. To find out more, click on any of the helpful links below.
If you are new to HighBeam Research, you are eligible for a one-time, seven-day free trial to explore our service. The free trial begins when you complete the registration process by submitting your payment information. We then send you a welcome message that contains information about our terms of use, including the length of the free trial, pricing for the subscription plan you selected during registration, and instructions for cancelling the free trial before it ends so that no charges are applied. Please make sure the email address you entered while registering is a valid one so we can send this information to you. If you do not receive this email, send us a message.
Because we all live busy lives, we automatically apply a one-day grace period to each seven-day trial. In addition, we do not begin counting the days for your free trial until midnight CST, following the day you sign up. In other words, if you sign up in the afternoon, you get unlimited access for the rest of that day plus eight full days.
If you are charged for your subscription after your free trial is over, we hope you continue to benefit from the use of our product. Anytime we charge an account, our 800 number appears on the credit card statement in case you need to contact us.
Please be aware that some subscription plans do not include a free trial. After you register for a non-trial plan, we send you a welcome email that contains pricing information for the plan you selected.

After your free, 7-day trial is over, you will be billed for the subscription term you selected during registration. If you wish to cancel your subscription, please navigate to your account and click the 'Cancel account' link. You can also contact us to cancel your account.
To request a receipt, please send us a message and include the date you need a receipt for.
You can also see your billing history by logging in and visiting the “Your account” section, which is accessible from the top of most pages.

No matter which option you choose, you should receive a cancellation-confirmation email from us. If you do not receive this email, please send us a message.
Subscriptions to HighBeam Research automatically renew, per our terms and conditions. You will continue to be charged until you cancel your subscription.
For non-trial offers, the first charge is billed upon submitting your payment information, which completes the registration process. If you received a free trial, the charge will typically post on eighth day after you completed registration.
All subsequent charges are automatically billed according to the subscription plan you purchased (i.e., annual or monthly). Annual subscriptions are billed once a year based on the date you completed registration. Monthly subscriptions are billed once a month based on the date you completed registration. For example, if you registered for an annual subscription on June 10, 2011, your next billing date is June 10, 2012. If you registered for a monthly subscription on June 10, your next billing date is July 10th.
Your payment method will automatically be charged unless you have cancelled your account.
You can change your payment information by logging in and visiting the “Your account” section, which is accessible from the top of most pages. From there, click the “Billing preferences” link and update your information as needed.
We are sorry that we cannot offer refunds for any term already charged. This is stated in Section 2.4 of our terms and conditions, which all customers must agree to before registration can be completed. In very limited circumstances, we may be able to refund your most recent charge if you contact us immediately after it is billed by calling our 24-hour Customer Service line at 1-800-860-9227.
