Gallery and Museum Store Opening

See what's new! Rediscover the Kansas Museum of History and find even more to love.
- The Real People. Real Stories. gallery and the new Museum Store will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
- Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Museum in its west Topeka location with free admission and behind-the-scenes tours of the Museum and State Archives collections.
- Visit with Kansas Historical Society staff members and hear about archeology, historic preservation, state historic sites, the State Archives, and educational opportunities for children and adults.

Arthur Short Bull Art Exhibit at Kaw Mission State Historic Site
1 - 4 p.m. Wednesday - Saturday
June 11 - 14
Meet watercolor artist Arthur Short Bull as he leads a guided question-and-answer tour of his works. Short Bull is a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation.
Admission is $3 adults, $1 students. Kansas Historical Foundation members and children five and younger admitted free. Kaw Mission is located at 500 N. Mission Street, Council Grove. For more information, call 620-767-5410.

Family fun by day and dancing at night!
West Fest
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Calling all cowboys at heart! West Fest is fun for the whole family! See miniature ponies and a mustang. Run the cowboy obstacle course and sing along at the campfire. Admission to the Museum is $8 adults, $6 students; children five and younger admitted free. Admission includes Museum exhibits, one free stagecoach ride and donkey cart ride, and cowboy songs with Kyler. Free hot dogs and chips 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. while supplies last. Museum After Hours: A Night of Country
7 - 9:30 p.m.
Two-step on over to the Museum for fun, games, and country music. Learn the two-step, line and swing dances. Live music provided by Phantoms of the Opry. Admission is $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Includes one drink ticket, cowboy caviar (snacks), dessert, and admission to the Museum. Must be age 21 or older. For ticket information, visit kshs.org/18535.
