Casey Kasem, the voice of “American Top 40″ and Shaggy on “Scooby-Doo,” died Sunday at the age of 82, and within the hour of the news breaking, stars were posting their condolences on Twitter and issuing statements on the late radio legend.

His daughter Kerri Kasem confirmed his death with a Facebook post on Father’s Day. The fixture of cartoon programs died of Lewy body disease, a common form of progressive dementia.

Ryan Seacrest issued the following statement on Kasem’s death:  “It’s a sad day for the broadcasting community and for radio listeners around the world. When I was a kid, I would listen to Casey Kasem’s AT40 show every weekend, and dream about someday becoming a radio DJ. So when decades later I took over his AT40 countdown show, it was a surreal moment. »
