ABSTRACT
A biography of secretary general of the General People's Congress of Libya Mubarak Abdallah al-Shamikh is presented. Born May 15, 1952 in Benghazi, Libya, al-Shamikh attended the University of Central Florida where he studied engineering. Upon returning to Libya he served in the Revolutionary committees under Libyan leader Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi. He served as the country's prime minister from 2000-2003, but was removed when al-Gaddafi reorganized the government in 2003.
