About Ybor Memories (A mobile work-in-progress)

Calling for volunteers to test Smartphone video treks of historical Ybor

Video excerpts of the Latin life documented in Gayla Jamison’s film Living in America: 100 Years of Ybor City are being joined to historical Ybor locations. These glimpses of the people and places of the past enhance emotional connection and add to the sense of time passing in Ybor City.

You can participate in the Augmented Reality experiment if you have an Android or iPhone by installing the free SCVNGR phone application. iPhone users can find it at the Apple App Store, while Android phone users can go to the SCVNGR on the Android App Market, or use the QR code (right).

Walk to the location of one of the red pins on the map of Ybor City's Seventh Avenue, turn on your phone's GPS, and the Ybor Memories trek should appear.

A short presentation on the status of the project and instructions on how to test the system will be provided.
