OPEC Upstream Capacity in the Medium Term
To ensure that the world economy benefits from regular and secure oil supplies, OPEC Member Countries continue to invest to expand upstream capacity. Over the period to 2015, according to OPEC's projects database, around 132 projects are expected to come on-stream. The net increase in OPEC's liquids capacity by 2015 is estimated to be close to 7.0 mb/d above 2010 levels, leading to comfortable levels of spare capacity.
To achieve these goals, OPEC is undertaking intensive investment plans.
