S14: COLOR SATURATION
THE BRIGHT COLORS OF MARSAXLOKK, MALTA
The tiny Maltese islands lie 50 miles south of Sicily in the midst of the Mediterranean Sea. With clear blue water lapping at its shores and a temperature that rarely dips below 50ºF, Malta makes for a gorgeous spring getaway. The fishing village of Marsaxlokk was the vibrant backdrop for much of our Spring 2014 Catalog. The bright red, green, blue, and yellow Phoenician fishing boats called luzzu that greeted us every morning are the perfect symbol of the switch from winter’s black and white to springtime Technicolor.
HELLO, SUNSHINE!
Indian Ikat-inspired Tunic Say goodbye to winter sweaters with a pop of sunset-bright color in a breezy, flattering cotton tunic. SIP
CITRUS PUNCH
Each January, Malta’s president welcomes visitors into the gardens at San Anton Palace, where more than 600 citrus trees droop with sun-ripened lemon, mandarins, and blood oranges. Enjoy a taste for yourself, with a bright punchy glass of orange juice to wash away winter blues.

The ancient Greeks called the islands Melita, meaning “honey-sweet.” It’s probably a reference to the Malta’s unique bee-keeping tradition, but we think it describes life in this subtropical climate perfectly.
