The Buzz: The results can be mixed at best when a celebrated cinematographer takes to the director's chair, but when you've shot most of Christopher Nolan's films, his welcome and inescapable guiding hand is there as a mentor, friend, and fan, right? And the science her should be quite smart if writer Jack Paglen's Black Listed script is worth its salt (the rookie screenwriter was recently hired to develop/improve the Prometheus story as he will set work on a sequel).

Certificate R Comedy | Horror

Having exorcised the demons of his ex, Malcolm is starting fresh with his new girlfriend and her two children. After moving into their dream home, however, Malcolm is once again plagued by bizarre paranormal events.

The Buzz: Just like the genre it parodies, this spoof was rewarded with a sequel after earning back more than its entire budget on opening weekend. And Marlon Wayans will work to keep this story going until audiences just say no.

Certificate G Documentary

A documentary that follows an Alaskan bear family as its young cubs are taught life's most important lessons.

The Buzz: Director Randall Wallace (Seabiscuit, We Were Soldiers) is a wise choice to adapt and helm this real-family drama that has a chance to cross over with general family audiences.

Certificate R   -   Comedy

Metascore: 64/100 (5 reviews)

The Buzz: It's definitely not the easiest time to market a sex comedy co-starring Woody Allen.

April 25

The Buzz: Cameron Diaz enters his 40s busier than ever, with three movies due out this year alone. This comedy is conjuring thoughts of The First Wives Club reworked for a present-day trio which includes Leslie Mann (yay) and model-turned-actress Kate Upton. Comedy is hard though, you guys, and Nick Cassavetes has never directed or written one (though Melissa Stack, who landed a Black List script back in 2007 handled this screenplay).

Certificate PG-13   -   Horror

Metascore: 51/100 (4 reviews)

The Buzz: The sturdy Jared Harris should anchor this thriller from revamped classic-horror house Hammer Productions, who have The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (2015) queued for 2015. Harris has the Poltergeist remake lined up for the same year and his co-star, Olivia Cooke, currently stars in Bates Motel (which was just renewed for a third season) and also has Ouija (2014) in production.

Certificate PG-13 Action | Crime | Drama

An undercover Detroit cop navigates a dangerous neighborhood that's surrounded by a containment wall with the help of an ex-con in order to bring down a crime lord and his plot to devastate the entire city.

The Buzz: If things hadn't gone tragically wrong, this action movie - a remake of District B13 (2004) directed by Luc Besson's longtime editor Camille Delamarre - would have bridged the gap between Fast & Furious installments and reintroduced parkour to movie-going audiences. Instead, it's a penultimate look at Paul Walker before he is seen a final time in Fast & Furious 7 (2015). Rest in peace, good man.

Certificate R   -   Drama | Thriller

Metascore: 74/100 (6 reviews)
A successful construction manager's life is drastically changed by a series of phone calls while he drives.

The Buzz: While your average movie-watcher has probably seen Tom Hardy perform in any number of movies -- dating all the way back to his big-screen debut in Black Hawk Down -- he's certainly not a household name yet. This contained thriller might not turn him into a superstar, but we sense that part of its design is to help showcase his leading-man appeal against a more subdued backdrop than, say, The Dark Knight Rises.

Certificate R   -   Documentary | Biography | History | Music

Metascore: 46/100 (4 reviews)
Johnny Depp pays a visit to Ralph Steadman, the renown artist and the last of the original Gonzo visionaries who worked alongside Hunter S. Thompson.

The Buzz: One reason why Johnny Depp's fame rarely tires us out is because he's a champion for his heroes.
