Bat Bummer: Christian Bale Won't Be In 'Justice League'

8 hours ago | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

We all know that Warner Bros. has high hopes for "Man of Steel," especially after losing money on the last Superman reboot.

With "Marvel's The Avengers" and "Iron Man 3" both joining the billion dollar club, who could blame the studio that owns all of the DC Comics Universe characters for wanting their own post-"Harry Potter" billion dollar franchise? "Green Lantern" was a misfire, but "Man of Steel" should setup a future "Justice League" nicely. There's just one problem: they're gonna need a new Batman.

Dashing the hopes of Dark Knight fans everywhere, Christopher Nolan collaborator David Goyer says there's no room for Christian Bale (or Joseph Gordon-Levitt, for that matter) in "The Justice League," because Nolan's trilogy exists in its own universe. Sure, as folks who have already seen "Man of Steel" (Spoiler) are aware, there are some nods to other DC characters, including Bruce Wayne.

But whomever »

Batman in 'Justice League'? Maybe, but It Won't Be Christian Bale

10 hours ago | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Superhero movie geeks hoping for a future pairing of Christian Bale's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman will probably be disappointed.

Warner Bros. hopes to make a "Justice League" movie and wants this weekend's "Man of Steel" to be "the starting point for a shared universe," revealed screenwriter David S. Goyer (who penned "Steel" as well as the "Dark Knight" movies) in a recent interview with Den of Geek.

"Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder has teased that other DC Comics characters could exist in the world of his movie. And Christopher Nolan, who directed the "Dark Knight" movies, is the executive producer of "Man of Steel."

"We could meet Batman, or Wonder Woman, or the Justice League in these movies," Goyer said of future movies. "But they all hinge on box office reception."

Considering "Man of Steel" is triumphing at the early box office and Warner Bros. has already green-lit a sequel, »

Mad Max's Weekend Movie Guide: 'Man of Steel' & More

Greetings from the apocalypse! You want destruction? This weekend's got Massive destruction. You want egos? This weekend's got Massive egos. Pow! In Theaters

Nap before Zod! Sorry, boys and girls, but I must be the bearer of sour tidings: "Man of Steel" isn't that great. Is it better than the coat hanger abortion that was "Superman Returns"? Yeah, but not by leaps and bounds. On the plus side the cast is terrific, anchored by the measured charisma of Henry Cavill as the superest man there is and Lois Lane at her spunky best courtesy of Amy Adams. Unfortunately, the retro sci-fi trappings are "Green Lantern"-level ponderous and a climactic Metropolis battle that's 9/11 times-a-hundred ("Yes, »

I Want That: Man of Steel figures from Sideshow and Hot Toys

14 hours ago | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Upon seeing the new releases for Sideshow's Premium Format Man Of Steel figure and Hot Toys 1/6 scale Man Of Steel figures it took all the patience I could muster to not jump on the preorder superhighway. Why? Because as cool as they looked, I still had to find out if Man Of Steel was, in fact, a great movie, which would justify the cost and display of said figure(s). I thought Green Lantern was going to be cool, too, but thankfully there were no figures like this up for preorder »

Superman Almost Played James Bond

14 hours ago | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Henry Cavill plays Superman in "Man of Steel," and its a role that should catapult him to stardom.

"People will stop me and ask for a photo," Cavill told HuffPost Entertainment about his burgeoning star status. "Going to Starbucks, I definitely feel that thing of any minute now someone is going to say something -- then it will be photo bedlam. It hasn't quite hit with its full force yet, but it's definitely changing."

As it turns out, however, Cavill could have experienced those photo ops much earlier in his career. The 30-year-old actor was mentioned as possible star for some of the biggest films of the last decade. Ahead, a quick look at the lost roles of Henry Cavill.

Superman Movies: Why Is It So Hard for Hollywood to Get the Man of Steel Right?

16 hours ago | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

It's not hard to imagine the executives at Warner Bros. looking at a chart of Marvel's successful superhero movies over the last decade and a half -- including five "X-Men" movies, four "Spider-Man" films, three "Iron Man" smashes, plus successful franchise-launchers "Thor" and "Captain America" and massive group hit "The Avengers." Then, the Warner suits look at the same period's superhero smashes based on characters from Time Warner's own venerable DC Comics publishing line and sees Christopher Nolan's three Batman movies... and nothing else. Then they look back at all the Marvel hits and mutter, "Why we no have?"

Really, it should have been a no-brainer for Warners to build successful franchises out of DC superhero stalwarts like Superman, Batman, and Green Lantern, and to have them all come together, Avengers-style, for a series of Justice League movies. After all, DC's characters are just as familiar, if not even moreso, »

Another international trailer has been released for the upcoming supernatural action-adventure flick R.I.P.D.

Man Of Steel Will “Cause” Justice League Movie

13 June 2013 9:49 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

A Justice League movie hitting our screens in the next three or four years is just about as much a certainty as death and paying taxes. In fact, I’d wager it will be confirmed as 100% happening by this time next week, possibly even with a 2016 release date set.

It’s universally known that a strong box office showing for Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel this weekend will set the fast-tack wheels in motion on the DC Comics cinematic universe. In fact, they’ve already announced a sequel to Man Of Steel and didn’t even wait for the numbers to come in on that.

Warner Bros seem to cautiously have a plan for how the road to Justice League will work out, though there are external factors (such as whether they can convince Chris Nolan to be involved somehow, which in turn will almost certainly mean Christian Bale »

‘Man Of Steel’ Review: Henry Cavill Battles Green Screens As Superman

13 June 2013 9:46 AM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

A ripped Henry Cavill takes his turn in the blue tights in Zach Snyder’s super-sized Superman reboot. But can a ‘Man Of Steel’ origin story with so many suspect special effects really take flight?

Call it the curse of Christopher Reeve. The man was just too iconic for his successors’ good. From the admirable but endless Smallville, to Brandon Routh‘s one-off crash landing impersonation of Reeve in Superman Returns (2006), no one has been able to replace the original man of steel in the 35 years since the the 1978 classic, Superman. Now, director Zach Snyder (300, The Watchmen) takes the helm of this deceivingly tricky franchise with a visually dense digital origin story that harkens the return of the evil Kryptonian General, Zod!
