Cumbria: The place to be

There's a wealth of culture, delicious food and heaps of fun just waiting to be discovered in Lake District, Cumbria, one of the most beautiful corners of Britain. There is literally something for everyone, from the miles of footpaths criss-crossing the area taking in some of the UK’s most beautiful landscapes, to ancient Roman remains and medieval castles, which are bound to capture little ones imaginations and not forgetting cosy country pubs with roaring fires and Michelin starred restaurants serving amazing food.Whatever you choose to do just make sure you explore the Lake District, Cumbria, in style.

  • Borrowdale: Castle Crag and Watendlath – Green Route (short)
    South of Keswick and with the beautiful Derwentwater at its mouth, the long valley of Borrowdale is a wonderful place to explore."/>
  • Ullswater – Aira Force
    A short circular walk along well graded paths to a popular waterfall, the falls are most impressive after rain. Walk up the right hand (east) side of the beck to the falls, cross the bridge then descend the left hand (west) side."/>
  • Great Gable from Wasdale Head
    A full traverse of one of the Lake Districts most iconic peaks; Great Gable. The paths are rocky and rough in parts and although the climb is long it is well graded and maintains interest throughout its length. This stunning walk will best suit those with fell-walking experience. (anti-clockwise)"/>
  • Rydal and Loughrigg Terrace – Blue Route (long)
    Both of the routes start and finish at Rydal Water car park and follow the same directions until you reach Rydal Caves. Once you have finished exploring the caves the little ones can complete the shorter green route and older ones can carry on along the blue route before meeting up back at the car park"/>
  • The Western Ridge of Kentmere
    Steep-sides and craggy slopes crowned by a succession of three shapely peaks form Kentmere’s western skyline. The crest of the main ridge is a treat, a gentle roller coaster walk that delivers visual delights at every rise and turn. "/>
  • Jenkin Crag Bridleway
    Set high above the eastern shores of Lake Windermere this high level route makes a superb walk through lanes, woodland and hamlets whilst at the same time delivering outstanding long range views."/>
  • Grizedale Forest Park - North Face Trail Hard (Red grade)
    The North Face Trail offers a rush of curves, berms and north shore, uphill and downhill which takes riders on an adventure trail through Grizedale Forest. "/>
  • The North Pennines: biking around Alston (Nenthead and Garrigill)
    The high rolling fells of Alston Moor separate two deep valleys which hold the upper reaches of the River South Tyne and the waters of the River Nent. Both valleys display a classic North Pennine landscape; that magical mixture of walled valley bottoms, pasture and hay meadows backed by rough open fell and interspersed with hamlets. "/>
