Trivia

Martin Scorsese turned down the chance to direct the film in the 1980s, as he felt he couldn't do as good a job as a Jewish director. He agreed to swap films with Steven Spielberg, taking over Cape Fear (1991) instead. See more »

Goofs

When Goeth attempts to shoot the Rabbi for producing too few hinges, his semi-automatic pistol fails to fire. In order to re-cock the pistol, he racks the slide (pulls back the slide) several times. When the gun still fails to fire, he tries the same thing with a second semi-automatic pistol. Each time the slide is pulled back, we should see an unfired round being ejected from the gun, but this does not happen. See more »

Blows your mind, makes you cry & leaves you speechless
2 January 2000 | by (Dublin, Ireland) – See all my reviews

Just watched this for the second time - what a movie

No film has ever had the impact on me that this has had - even more so second time around. Hard at times to watch and I had to switch it off for a while.

Last scene is unforgettable.

Must be close to best film ever made and we can't forget it.
