Michael Chiklis joins the cast of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

Michael Chiklis is making a freaky return to television.
The Emmy-winning actor has joined the cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show. The announcement was made onstage at the final night of this year’s Paleyfest during the American Horror Story: Coven panel. Chiklis is new to the Ryan Murphy world of actors and will join previous Horror Story regulars Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Basset and Frances Conroy in the fourth season of the franchise.

Joss Whedon turned to YouTube to warn the citizens of Seoul that filming for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” will create potential headaches for them when planned action sequences force streets to be shut down, causing traffic congestion.
“We are going to mess it up a bit and inconvenience some people for a few days and I apologize for that,” he said in the friendly gesture, while sharing his love for the city. “I know what that’s like. I live in Los Angeles. It happens to me all the time and it’s not fun. I hope that it will be worth it.”
The Marvel Studios production recently spent several days in Italy, where the first looks of Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, were revealed.

After fighting for his life against humans in “The Hunger Games,” Dayo Okeniyi is now ready to fight for his life against cyborgs in Paramount and Skydance’s “Terminator.”
Best known for his role as Thresh in Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games,” Okeniyi has been tapped to play Miles Dyson’s son in the latest installment in the “Terminator” franchise.
He joins Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney and Jason Clarke, who had already signed on to the pic. Alan Taylor is directing.
Plot details have not been revealed, other than this is the first film in a standalone trilogy. In “Terminator 2: Judgement Day,” Dyson, played by Joe Morton, was the scientist who helped in creating Cyberdyne Systems, the computer system that started the war between the machines and humans.
Dyson is killed in the pic, but his son is featured briefly in the film. How he plays into this new standalone trilogy is unknown. »

Lorenzo Semple, Jr., who created the “Batman” television series that epitomized 1960s camp and went on to write a string of hit films that included “The Parallax View,” “Three Days of the Condor,” “King Kong” and “Never Say Never Again,” has died. He was 91. Semple's daughter, Maria Semple, told TheWrap he died Fridat morning. She has written for shows including “Saturday Night Live” and “Arrested Development” and authored the bestselling novel “Where'd You Go, Bernadette.” Her father kept his sense of humor until the end, telling the Writers Guild Foundation in an interview. »

The Syfy drama "Helix" has been renewed for a second season, with a planned premiere in winter 2015. The announcement comes just in time for the first season finale tonight at 10pm. It's not much of a surprise, given the show's success: since its premiere in January, the show has ranked as the top cable scripted entertainment program in the time period, with an average of 2.1 million total viewers, pushing Syfy to the number two slot for cable entertainment networks among adults in the coveted demos. In what's becoming a PaleyFest tradition, "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy had a casting surprise for the audience. Another top drawer talent will be joining the show. "The Shield" star Michael Chiklis will be playing a role in the "freak show" themed fourth season, which takes place in Florida in the 1950s. Murphy also revealed that Chiklis will be playing the father of returning actor Evan Peters' character, and will be the ex-husband of Kathy Bates' character as well. Michael Chiklis is returning to FX, this time as part of the ensemble on “American Horror Story: Freak Show.”
Chiklis will play the former husband of Kathy Bates’ character and father of Evan Peters’ character in the fourth-season incarnation of “American Horror Story.” Creator Ryan Murphy announced the fan-friendly casting as part of the “Ahs” Paleyfest panel on Friday at the Dolby Theater.
Murphy disclosed earlier this week that “Freak Show” would live up to its title. Set in the early 1950s in Jupiter, Fla., “Ahs” mainstay Jessica Lange will play a German expatriate who runs a sideshow circus.
Chiklis starred in the edgy cop show “The Shield” that put FX on the map with original programming map from 2002 to 2008. The TV vet most recently starred in CBS’ period drama “Vegas” last season.
Chiklis was on hand for Friday’s Paleyfest session to trumpet the news.

Morgan devoted the prime-time show's final minutes Friday night to the issue that he said has been a "consistent and often very controversial" part of "Piers Morgan Live." The British-born host cited gun violence statistics and expressed dismay that mass shootings including those in Newtown, Conn., and Aurora, Colo., haven't led to stricter laws. New York (AP) — Lady Gaga celebrated her 28th birthday with an energetic but short concert at the Roseland Ballroom in her first of seven concerts at the closing venue. Gaga performed for an hour Friday night in front of a feverish crowd. She started with a slow version of "Born This Way" on piano, with the audience joining in. She followed that with the jams "Monster" and "Bad Romance." She danced and sang on the side of the stage in a red tight leotard. A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Southern California Friday night, shaking Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. The earthquake hit at 9:09 p.m. Pst one mile away from La Habra, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. There have been at least 30 aftershocks, with two of the aftershocks having a magnitude greater than 3.0, according to a press briefing from the Usgs. Ford Motor Co. won a heated contest among Detroit’s top automakers to get “Tonight” host Jimmy Fallon to buy one of their trucks, and may have done so through an ad pact with NBCUniversal.
Automakers including Ford, General Motors, Chrysler Group’s Ram Trucks and even Nissan have lit up Twitter since March 5 after Fallon revealed on “Tonight” that he intended to buy a truck. In the first segment of the March 28th episode of the program, Fallon revealed he had chosen a Ford F-150, and that the show would spend next week showing 10 Ford dealers from around the U.S. competing to sell him the vehicle by keeping their hands on a F-150 placed on the U.S.S. Intrepid in New York City.
