Making Snow for the Olympics
Jan. 17, 2014—A Michigan-based snowmaking company, SMI Snow Makers, is using the latest technology to create snow for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Their machines create snow crystals that are like two-week-old snow from Mother Nature. But while Mother Nature takes hours or days to manufacture the crystals, SMI's machines make the snow in 3 to 15 seconds.

@Owen Busse
Sochi is in Southern Russia, near the foothills of the Caucus Mountains, and close to the Black Sea. This area iswarm most of the year, and received the first snow of the year only a few days ago.
@Madalyn Nesheim @Owen Busse Thank you, Madalyn. And average February high temperatures in Sochi hover around 50 degrees F (10-11C).
