AN ACT GOVERNMENT AND ACT POLICING INITIATIVE TO COMBAT BIKE THEFT IN THE ACT.
The Bike Theft Reduction Campaign has been developed by the Justice and Community Safety Directorate in partnership with ACT Policing, following the identification of ongoing seasonal peaks in bicycle theft. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness in the community about the increase in bike theft and encourage bike users to properly secure their bikes and beat the peak in bike theft. At the launch of this campaign on 12th February 2014, the Attorney General said “Bike theft is often opportunistic and if thieves see a bike left unattended, unlocked or insecure they may steal it. Whether it’s a cheap mode of transport or a carbon-fibre super-light-weight racer, it’s important that the community knows how to prevent bike theft and lock up properly”.
